Selby/OPEN~9pm
Even though it was still a bit humid outside, Selby didn't mind hanging out on the lawn. The guy at the grill was funny, providing a running commentary on the preparation of burgers as if he were a top TV chef. She wondered how he could come up with so much to say. After all, it was just heat plus meat.
Selby took a sip from her lukewarm cup of cola, then grimaced and poured it out on the grass. Although she had been trying to watch for Bailey to arrive, tons of people had congregated around the grill and she could easily have missed her. Selby decided to wait just a few more minutes, then go into the house. There was probably some sparkling wine hiding in the Sigma's kitchen that would wash the taste of cola from her mouth, if she could charm one of the guys to break it out.
She waited, enjoying the summer evening breeze. Though the campus at night certainly couldn't be described as "magical," the mix of classical buildings and muted pathway lights did create an air of sophisticated mystery. Selby's thoughts drifted off to how she might capture that mood in a sculpture.
