Who: Kaelyn, ?? When: Day 66 Where: The Queen's solar, Maegor's Holdfast Rating: PG Status: Open to anyone
Kaelyn had finished going over menus and preparations for another feast. At last the staff was beginning to have some idea of what they were about... Gods be good, the sheer number of people... She put down the list of foods as her mind threatened to go entirely blank. Her thoughts went instead to the children- Gwyn's recovery was so very slow and in the meantime, Genna was turning into a perfect little monster in a tiara. It was more than that, though. Genna's words still echoed in her heart.
"When the dragons come back they'll have your heads."
And very slowly, the anger came back. Not at Genna, but at William. He'd taught Genna to expect more, he'd taught her to trust him only to do exactly what her own father had. It was cruel and heartless. She'd never considered her husband warm but she'd thought he had a heart. Perhaps not. Perhaps the twins would be better served by sellswords after all. She didn't realize she'd crumpled the paper in her hand until it was too late. The list was ruined. Kaelyn sighed and let it go.
No matter. Genna would soon be far away, and Gwyn-- Gwyn would... Gwyn would never need to fear. She had the Kingsguard chosen that she wanted for the twins' sworn shields, she only needed to speak with William. A septa for Genna was not so easy. Of the ladies suggested by the Septry there were none with the necessary iron in them. Someone with experience and intelligence enough to keep a step ahead, and no one too firm or they'd only break. Kaelyn slid more papers aside and tried to focus, but it wasn't going to happen.
Someone knocked and she whispered a prayer of thanks for the interruption. Her maid entered and announced there was someone to see her. Kaelyn' smile was genuine.
