This was possibly the stupidest thing Theodore had ever done. Rushing off to save Pansy was one thing, but Neville was of no immediate importance to him. Neither was Hermione, who had given him the information on Neville's whereabouts, and asked him to look into it. He wasn't doing it for either of their sakes, although he was quite sure that whatever condition Neville was in would give the healer in him every moral reason to care about it.
But his rebellion in caring for the servants had been very small up until now, and very secret. Theodore wasn't sure why he was taking it this far, planning to break into his boss's private rooms to see if his servant was alive. It had something to do with his father, with how his father had been involved in bringing this boy to the school; something about that had given him some kind of a guilty conscience. He hadn't thought too terribly hard about it, just like everything else to do with the way his father's death had affected him. All he knew was that he had the opportunity, and he was going to take it.
He'd asked Zach along, since his friend was much better with getting past hexes and wards than he was. He'd only explained briefly before leading his friend to Rosier's empty room and getting inside, looking around. After a pause, he lifted his wand and murmured, "Homenum revelio."
The spell pointed him toward the wardrobe, and he took a step closer, examining it. "What d'you reckon?" he said, glancing at Zach. "This is your area of expertise. Can we get in without him knowing?"
