Remus fell to all fours. The pain was impossible to describe, as many of the bones in his body broke and re-knit themselves, shifting to different positions. Ligaments stretched and tendons shortened and tightened, until Remus was no more. Instead, where he had been, stood a magnificent wolf. It stretched, and curled up to the sky, howling at the moon. Suddenly, it realized it was not alone.
It stomach ached with hunger, but what it smelled was not food. It was, instead, familiarity. A few paces in front of it... There were two creatures here with it. It lowered its tail and ears, broadcasting clearly though body language that it would not be a threat to them. It wanted only one thing: food.
