Thread: Gambit and Mystique
Who: Mystique, Remy LeBeau
When: Tuesday night
Where: the top of one of many large buildings in New York
What: Two thieves, one target, let the games begin.
People weren't really supposed to be up on the roof.
Her very presence, then, was enough to set Mystique apart as "different", something she normally tried to avoid in this sort of situation. But options had been weighed, and there were cameras at all of the other exits to the building, so the roof it was.
Not a particularly difficult job, in the end. A private enterprise, a contract taken out with one of her occasional employers, a man by the name of Frye who wanted a certain program. A banking prototype, so he claimed, and the research she'd done was enough to back that up - hire a thief to steal the software he could then use to steal millions more from everywhere, a tricky sort of situation. Frye hadn't been with her long enough for Mystique to trust him, not with those sort of ambitions, had almost passed off the job or wrecked it entirely, before changing her mind at the last moment. He'd have to hire someone to rework the prototype into something useable, after all, and she had the skills - put on a different face, set it up the way she wanted to, take his money twice and move on.
Once she got off of the roof.
Getting in had been easy. Fingerprint identification, retinal scans, vocal locks, all of these things assumed that people were who they were. Keycards, only slightly more difficult, and passwords had been given to her, the only part that Frye had been able to come up with. She'd charge him for making her do the legwork ... but it hadn't been hard to become the chief technician, slip in after hours as he was wont to do (not tonight, tonight he was sleeping the sleep of the drugged, safely tucked away in the common room to be discovered and blamed in the morning), download the program onto a disk and wipe it from their system. Set the alarms to go off the next time anyone touched them, and out again onto the roof.
The only problem now, of course, was how to get down.
Night wind in her hair, eyes golden and feline to compensate for a lack of anything so convenient as lighting, Mystique made her way to one side of the roof, where an elaborate system of scaffolding spidered down the side of the building.
