Who: Kevin and Vanessa
When: Saturday 12th, afternoon
Where: Pittsburgh, PA, Kevin's house
What: Well, they skipped out of Xavier's to visit Kevin's dad in more aftermath of Magneto's world
While Magneto had tossed America into chaos, Kevin had tried to get in touch with his father, doing everything short of actually going to Pittsburgh. He might be mushy and lovable, but he was still vulnerable and wasn't fond of dying or being attacked period. But he'd tried everything else he could think of.
It wasn't until last week that his father had replied. One morning Kevin had a new email in his inbox, and suddenly Kevin felt much better about everything. But that meant he had to go home to check up, and when he mentioned it to Vanessa, she volunteered to come as well. Part of him wanted to do it by himself, but he liked to have her around. So he grinned all the wider and they left without telling anyone else.
That probably wasn't the wisest decision, but Kevin wasn't always used to rules.
The sight was somewhat surprising once they reached the suburb. Suburbs had a certain way they were supposed to look, but while most of the damage from the dark time had been undone, there were still broken windows, a vandalized car, and a entire run-down aura. And the Sydney house was the worst shape.
There were wooden panels in place now as broken windows and doors were being repaired, but it was common knowledge that Kevin was a mutant, and apparently some people had taken it out on his father. He'd been refused at some human shelters, eventually getting to one in the next state for the duration of the reign. The house suffered from disrepair, vandalizers, squatters, and who knows what else beside.
And despite the fact that the front doorknob looked broken, Kevin still knocked. Looking back over his shoulder and Vanessa, he forced a smile. "I'm not sure if this really counts as meeting the parents. I'm pretty sure there's some rule about under non-emergency conditions only..."
His dad could open the door anytime, there.
