PLOT POINT
Who: Nathaniel Essex
Where: His home.
When: Early morning Jan 27th
What: Plot point for Attack of the Clones
Notes: This can effect different characters at different rates, so they might not all go mad on this particular day, but it shouldn't take too long even for those hidden in the Lair.
It was a low level psionic pulse, seemingly aimless, just the kind of thing that might come from some person who had latent psychic abilities that were somewhat uncontrolled. Without an announced center, there was no telling exactly where it was coming from nor to whom it was intended, if it was intended for anybody.
An enigma that would likely be marked, but uninvestigated. After all, there were so many more important things that one could investigate that had understandable causes and established effects. This appeared to have neither.
Afterwards, there would be some interest in the pulse, if only because the effects were going to become noticeable. So very noticeable. If it weren't for the simple fact that this had not been his original plan, but rather a contingency that he had put in place, Sinister might have been smugly pleased. As it stood, he had little interest in what transpired beyond this. The clones had long since served their purpose to him, before he had even released them out into the world to take up the positions they now inhabited. Now, they were simply pieces of an experiment that needed to be disposed of and it was always easier for someone else to have to do the disposing.
What exactly did that pulse do to those who had been brought back to life? It made them killers. From the beginning, the failsafe had been built in so that they could essentially self-destruct through attacking others until they were put down. He had considered how long it would take for someone to realize the truth about them, though he had not expected it quite so soon. Ah well, this was why contingency plans were put in place. To handle the contingencies that would undoubtedly crop up in any large experiment.
Sitting in the parlor of his home, Sinister just waited for the news to filter to him as it always did. They would go on mad rampages, all of them, such a pity really. Dr. Carmichael was worth keeping, if only because he was brilliant, not to the level of Sinister himself, but worthy of cultivation. Carol, had she been less unstable, would have certainly been worthwhile as well to bend to his will. Unfortunately, he had enough unpredictability among the Marauders, so few of them were worth anything anymore. Sad really. Perhaps he should just kill them all, breed a new batch, and start over. No, he had these trained to a certain degree and having to re-do the effort simply wasn't worth it.
Though he was taking the time to bring in new blood, someone less mouthy. Which reminded him, said person had a meeting that he was going to be going to looking for information on his dear sibling, who was not so much enjoying Sinister's hospitality as much as tolerating it. A very quiet one that one, though he could see the wheels behind her eyes turning at times. Given a slim window of opportunity, he could only imagine what she would do in order to escape captivity. Perhaps he would give her that window just to see what she would do. Not now, however, too many things turned around her for him to allow that at the moment.
Leaning back in his chair, he closed his eyes and waited. Things would begin to come to a head soon. So very soon.
