She jumped a little when he spoke up from behind her, a small blush crossed her face as she realized he'd probably 'caught' her talking to the machines. They'd never really talked about it, she tried to not do it around him- definitely didn't do it around other people but she knew he knew- or known. Her heart sank slightly when he said the words she'd been dreading. Yea, he said he'd be back but what if he got there and changed his mind?
"We're a long way away from Washington." JJ told him, furrowing her brow slightly. "And if they come here... this town takes care of it's own- you haven't met our Sheriff yet. Or the general store owner. Roz is vicious when she wants and our mortician is deadly. One of the docs is super strong and then there's Tris... well he's kinda drunk a lot but I've heard rumors or some of the stuff he's done when threatened. Apparently even Bear was impressed." She rambled a bit. "And you're my brother... so they'll protect you too." She lowered her head for a moment's pause and nodded a bit. "But yea, I'll ask Alex if he can take you..."
When he came back... "I-if you want to... but I do have an extra room. You can stay if you want." Her eyes turned up to him again. "We've both changed." She had, right? Grown up... maybe not as drastically as he had but she'd become more self sufficient, a survivor. "I don't care if you've changed Tae-Joon, you're still my big brother... Just having you..." She didn't know how to help him understand that just knowing he was alive was everything to her. Eyes glanced over to her computer and she moved over to it. She opened a new window and pulled up a list of files, turned on the speaker and started the first one. Their run times varied but the first few were short. She let three of them play, each was her talking to him, wishing he was there and hoping he heard her and would come find her. About thirty seconds in total of her needing him. As the next recording started, it sounded like she was about to tell him a story, she stopped it. Just looking at the file there were hundreds if not thousands of entries. JJ turned back to him, eyes sparkling in their dampness. "I'm just happy you're alive."
