Edmund quirked a smile. "I've read your old files, Regulus, I know quite a bit about your friendship with Auror Savage." He let the smile become broader, so the other man would know he wasn't judging the fact that their friendship had begun in a rather unusual set of circumstances. "I think it's brilliant that you've stayed so close after everything."
He nodded. "Right, thanks. I can come by at 10 a.m. tomorrow for the official test, if that's a good time for you. Or we could do it over lunch if you need to be in the office. I know you're getting ready for the Cup finals."
Edmund took a longer swallow of his pint and sat back in his seat. "Typically, with long-term surveillance cases we'd plan for a maximum of one month if there were no active incidents. Considering we're dealing with the LeStranges, however, and the fact that Mary's pregnant, I'd plan for at least three months to start. Typical shift length is eight hours. You can tell me whether you'd like that to be mornings, evenings, whatnot...I'll be able to work around whatever time you think it's most necessary to have someone with her. Though usually that's afternoons and evenings."
He scrubbed his hand over his face contemplatively. "It'd be best if I could Apparate or Floo directly into the residence and 'change' inside. Mary could then let me out to 'play,' in other words, give me time to do a perimeter check, and then let me back in. One other thing," he said with all seriousness, "she can take me for walks if she needs to go somewhere, and minimal petting to keep up appearances in public...but when in the residence, no cuddling."
