Regulus noted that Edmund also gazed around the pub as he spoke, grateful that the younger man was taking this as seriously as he was. He had no doubt some people, if they knew what Regulus was up to, would think he was bloody mental, as his cousin and her husband had no desire to wind up back in Azkaban - but they were more than capable of making something look like an 'accident'.
He couldn't help but snort softly at Edmund's question. "No, Mary isn't a Pureblood - she's not even half. She's a muggleborn and one that has already been tortured by another previous acquaintance of mine - Dominic Mulciber, the man that started stirring up trouble in my journal just the other night. So, you can see why I feel a bit like the walls are closing in on us at the moment. If it was just this, I would just be disowned from the family, which is no big loss. But I had to go and make public my defection from You-Know-Who recently along with the lengths I went to to see to it that he did not return to power. They're a little angry, to say the least. And I apparently have brilliant timing."
Regulus placed a hand over his heart and leaned in, "The people that know are people that I would trust with my life, hands down. My brother and Remus Lupin, Hestia Jones and Dedalus Diggle...and Rainer." The last name was said with a touch of sorrow, he hadn't meant to lay this on her at the moment - but she said he shouldn't spare her. "If you'd like to come over some time and test their wards out, I'd be much obliged. And yes, we're getting some personal wards for her. My house elf has sworn on his life that he will protect her - he is extremely loyal to me after all that we've been through together."
Regulus' drink had turned into more of a prop for him as his stomach was turning over on itself too much for him to even think about taking a sip. "Oh, I know...I've seen it first hand. Which is part of the reason why I'm reacting in such a manner." His eyebrow quirked slightly as he noted Edmund's smile. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect Mary and our child..."
Regulus leaned back in his chair and eyed Edmund briefly. Well, sure, that wasn't a bad idea...but this was his plan? Why the need to be so secretive about it? Surely there was something he was missing. "Err...okay, I can do that?" He hadn't meant to make it sound like a question, but he was entirely lost, even given that he had Sirius for a brother.
