Regulus had been doing his best to blend in, to look like he belonged there, when Edmund walked over to him and introduced himself. He'd caught a glimpse of him around the Auror department here and there over the years, when he was visiting Rainer or checking in to let them know of his whereabouts, but had never properly introduced himself or gone out of his way to get Edmund's attention. So, he was relieved to recognize the man that had approached him, needless to say.
He nodded to Edmund and extended his hand in greeting, "Please, call me Regulus. I have a feeling we'll be on first name basis in a bit, anyway. And it is nice to finally meet you, even if the circumstances aren't all that great."
He tapped his fingers on the table, eyed Edmund for a moment, then sighed heavily. Might as well tell it like it was and get it over with, then hear what Edmund might be able to offer him as far as surveillance and protection went. "So, as you know, I have a bit of a...colored past and my acquaintances from back then have been rearing their ugly heads as of late. Aside from Mulciber's lovely little chat in my journal the other day, they haven't said anything else to myself or Mary so far, but the game has changed considerably."
His eyes flitted out to the rest of the bar, as he made certain that no one else was listening in or paying them any bit of attention. "Mary is...well, we're having a child together apparently. Excellent timing on our part, but there you have it. When the people from my past find this out - which we can't delay the inevitable for long, I imagine it won't sit very well with any of them.
"I've already started taking some precautions - we've moved back into my parents' home, which is unplottable and heavily warded. I had some trusted friends help me strengthen the wards on it yesterday. My house elf will do what he can to protect her and so will all of our friends, I'm sure...but she has to be able to go about her daily life, you know? As do I." By the time he finished his story, his stomach was back to being twisted into knots.
"I'm probably being overly paranoid, I know. But I let something awful happen to Mary back in school and I'd never forgive myself if I let it happen again," he swallowed hard, then pushed the memory out of his head and clapped his hands together. "So, if you're willing to add to the list of things that might help set my mind at ease, you said you might have a suggestion for me?"
