Ellie felt like the afternoon had been one long case of "good news, bad news". The good news: the elves had served her favorite chicken casserole for lunch, and she'd loaded up. The bad: she'd loaded up too much and her belly felt distended and uncomfortable.
Good news: she liked Charms, enjoyed it, and it was second only to Transfiguration on her list of priorities, so she was happy to be in the class that afternoon, despite the slight discomfort she was feeling. Bad news: Emma Dobbs was in this class, and true to form, any little thing she could pick at, she would. Ordinarily Ellie would shoot something witty back, try to be just as cutting if not more so, but she was feeling sluggish and frankly sleepy.
She just hoped Emma didn't pick up on that. Or on the gentle round of her belly.
"Not many people can pull off 'snotty bitch' either," she said in a mock-friendly tone. "But I'm happy to report that you wear it like a second skin."
