Ellie was having trouble believing what had just happened. She'd never had such a big fight with Laura. Ordinarily when they disagreed, it blew over after a couple of minutes, but this seemed... bigger. Ellie knew that she shouldn't have pushed, but once she started, she couldn't seem to make herself stop, and now... and now everything was ruined.
So she'd blurted out her confession to Isabelle, and now the girl was on her way. To let her down gently, she supposed. Really, this whole afternoon had been one error in judgement after another on Ellie's part, and she wasn't looking forward to facing the older girl.
By the time she heard the knock on the door, she was sitting on her bed, knees drawn up to her chest. She'd cried, when Laura left, but she'd wiped her face and calmed down a little since.
"Come in," she called softly, her voice dull. If Isabelle was going to turn her down, she just hoped she would get it over with quickly.
