Sally-Anne and Ellie
Ellie's mother suddenly seemed so sensible and nice that Ellie wished she was here, so she could hug her. Poor Sally-Anne, having to feel forced into something she didn't want. "Maybe you could get one of your boy friends to pretend to be your boyfriend, and when she thinks you're with somebody, she'll stop trying to set you up?" she suggested. Honestly, she felt a little out of her depth, though she badly wanted to be able to help the older girl, since she'd been nice enough to confide in her.
"Yes, I'm... interested in someone," she said, glancing wistfully over at the person in question. "But I don't think it'll happen. So, like I said, I'm trying to... move on. I think she wants me to move on."
