Nate stared at the cards spread out on the table in front of himself and Luag, a bewildered expression on his face as he tried to piece together the story they told. "This is the direct antithesis of the last reading," he said slowly. "It makes sense, in a way, but where the other ended in tragedy, this ends in hope. And this," he tapped the prince of swords, "appears in both stories."
He sat back to look at the cards, and took a deep breath so he could begin at the start of the story. "We start with the nine of swords, reversed, crossed by the seven of pentacles. They say that we're in a time of healing, of looking ahead to each new day as a fresh start. The obstacle we face is a pause in that effort to go forward, or perhaps a disappointment."
He caught his lower lip in his teeth, regarding the cards. If this reading were about himself, he'd say it was him and Trina, as a the Prince and Princess of swords. But this was a general reading, geared towards politics and the world, much like the last one he had done. So he knew it wasn't himself and his sister, but still, it felt odd to have those two cards, and working in such close proximity. "We have two people here, who are central to the situation. One is the princess of swords, and she is the resource by which we are driving towards the prince of swords. Without her, we can't have him, and without him, we can't have the final outcome. She is a diplomat, possibly a spy. He is a brave young man and I hope he heralds the going of misfortune, not its arrival." Nate flashed a rueful smile at that over at Luag.
"Behind is the star, which was inspiration and hope, and I'm figuring that's the end of the war. Before though, in the near future, is a balance between two forces, and possibly a stagnation. Something's going to have to tilt to keep moving forward."
Nate's fingers moved to brush the line of cards to the right. "For myself, the queen of pentacles, so now I'm thinking we're secure." He wasn't sure he agreed with that, although his mood was definitely better than the last time he cast the cards. "Maybe I can blame Caineal for my newfound safety. And my family and friends is the Moon, seeing deception and unforseen perils in the future. We fear the ace of cups, reversed, with the instability it brings to our lives. But in the end, the six of swords, which is success after anxiety. So while the last one was as dark as dark could be, this one is cautiously optimistic. So something's changed, and I'd guess it has to do with those two." He nodded at the two swords at the center.
Looking at Luag, he added, "There are a lot of swords, which means strife, but then, I don't think that's any surprise, caro."
