"You thought you had a month. You couldn't have known that he would come early," she said reassuringly, not missing how he seemed to be beating himself up. Maybe he was taking this harder than she thought. Astoria could relate but she hated seeing her cousin upset. It physically pained her.
"The Indian girl of Adrian's left the flat. I'm able to go back now," she said casually, her fingers running along the bit of crib he had already put together. "There are already so many people here--But I can stay, if you think I wont be in the way." She hadn't planned on staying. Astoria didn't feel welcome, but she knew Terence and she could tell he wanted her to stay. That was all the encouragement she needed.
Astoria was in no rush to leave Terence and Daphne alone to act like a little family. Especially not with her mother's wishes fresh in her ears. It was against everything she believed in but to go against her was going against her family and that was the one thing she knew she could never do. She felt torn but this wasn't the day to bring it up. This was Daphne's day. "You're doing a brilliant job. Can I help?"
