"If you are going to entertain guests at Christmas it will make the dinner even more festive if you set the table with your polished family's silverware. Just imagine how your table will sparkle! I can promise you that your guests' breath will be taken away."
Harry shut the book and grimaced in dismay. He didn't even know if his family had ever owned any silverware, but he certainly didn't have any. His table would not sparkle, would probably not be anything like a festive table should. Snape would take him for a common, brat that wasn't worth his attention.

Severus didn't care much for a tree, especially since there wouldn't be anyone coming to his house to celebrate Christmas. Why bother putting up one just for himself? The Advent Wreath was the only thing of the Christmassy sort that he let into his house. Well, apart, maybe, from a single twig of fir that he put down in a vase on his book-laden coffee table.
Severus didn't really like to admit it, but he rather liked the smell of fresh fir. The reason it was there had nothing to do with Christmas. Nor had the single, silver Christmas bauble.</lj>
