"This isn't exactly what I had in mind, Severus, when you asked me to go for a walk in the Forbidden Forest with you."
"I need these special pine combs, from the elusive blue pine tree, to complete the potion. I only require one more, and then we may go back to the castle."
"This is some date," Harry mumbled under his breath as he kicked over a pile of leaves. To his surprise, the leaves moaned. When he looked down, he saw a head lying on the ground.
"Severus, Severus," Harry shouted, "look here. There's a man's head in these leaves."
Suddenly, the head opened its eyes and spoke to the wizards.
"Aye say, Governors, could you help me out here?"
"Good Lord, man, what happened to you?" Harry asked.
"I've been cursed by the Dark Lord. I refused to do his bidding, so he turned me into nothing but a head."
"Blimey, that's terrible," Harry cried.
"How may we be of assistance?" Severus asked.
"Could you go to the bottom of the hill near the large rock? There's a spring on the north side. Please, bring me some spring water and drop three holly berries into it?"
"All right," Severus replied a little wary. "Are you sure this will help?"
"Yes, oh yes, Voldemort used the magical spring water to curse me."
Harry stayed with the head while Severus went to retrieve the spring water. He did as the head asked and filled a flask with water, dropping three holly berries into it and then promptly returned to Harry's side.
Severus knelt down by the head and poured the cool liquid into its mouth. Amazingly, an arm popped out.
"Quick, Severus, give him another drink. It's working," Harry urged.
The head took a large gulp and his other arm popped out.
"How curious," Severus mused as a torso began to appear.
Another drink later, his right leg burst forth and then his left.
The now fully formed man sighed with relief and stood up, whole and complete."
"Thank you, thanks for helping me, mates. Me name is Iffin O' Darby and my family will be so grateful for my return. May I have that last swallow out of the flask, please? I've been here a long time and I'm very parched."
Severus handed Iffin the flask. The man tipped it up and drank the last drop of the spring water.
A loud pop echoed through the forest and a cloud of white smoke billowed around Iffin. In a heartbeat, the man vanished from sight.
Harry and Severus looked at each other wide-eyed.
Harry patted Severus on the back comfortingly. "Well, I guess he should have quit while he was a head."
