again...
Appearance: Bree is the type to always seem much bigger than she is. When she walks into a room, you take notice, even though she might not be the prettiest or the sexiest or the most commanding. There's something about her you just can't ignore nonetheless. At 5'7", she's a normal height and, though she's put on about 4 pounds every year since getting married, she's still an average weight. She can't help it if a) she's happy, b) she's got a desk job, c) her husband isn't a shallow dude who needs his wife to fit into a size 2-6 and d) whoever works at Ruby's in the kitchen has it in for her waistline. Her body is still amazing 'cause she wears her weight well, but you will never see Bree watching what she eats.
She keeps her hair to about shoulder-length and tied into braids, as that's a hairstyle that always looks good but she doesn't have to fuss with in the morning. Usually, she's lucky to slap on some concealer and lip-gloss before she hurls herself out the door. Her work and casual clothes are exactly the same- undershirts, blazers and either a knee-length skirt or some wide-legged slacks. Bree pulls off her 'I don't care, look at how comfortable I am' look well. She somehow manages to seem professional and like she could curl for a nap at the same time. Her shoes, however, are always so cute you could kill yourself. That's where Bree sinks her wardrobe money.
PB: Tracie Thoms
Background: Born in Flint, Michigan, the only daughter in a family of five, Bree grew up hard, but strong. The Parrishes never had much money, but she was always encouraged and supported as much as her parents could manage. Her father worked two jobs and her mother, a legal assistant, was constantly getting shipped around to different firms in the greater Detroit area. Still, with all their exhaustion, Bree's parents told her that whatever she saw fit to accomplish, they'd be proud of her for it.
She grew up in libraries, mostly. Of course Bree had friends, but it was always important to her to keep to her studies. When her friends went out to parties or to just spend the hours trespassing and enjoying each other's company, she was working hard. Bree never got down about that- it just meant when she did allow herself to have a good time, a goddamn good time was had by all.
Bree received a full-ride scholarship to Northwestern, where she kept her scholarship (as well as earning herself some good post-graduate grants) by majoring in Physics and minoring in Anthropology. She published an article her senior year and was happy to go on to pursue her doctorate at the University of Chicago. During her time in Chicago, she was fortunate enough to intern at Fermilab, where she received a position upon graduation. It was at Fermilab that she met her future husband.
Taylor was a scientist with a few years seniority over her. He was calm, soothing and always prepared for what happened to him. They bumped into each other a few times, Bree always trying her hardest to knock him off-center, and soon started dating. Some things struck Bree as strange right off the bat. Mainly, he wasn't a very good scientists. His hypotheses were always vague, his calculations sloppy... But dammit if he didn't deliver results. It wasn't until after Taylor had proposed that Bree found out why.
Taylor had earned his college tuition by serving in the military. As a soldier, he'd volunteered for a program in which soldiers were being 'evolved'. Many of the other men and women in the project died or developed terrible side-effects. Taylor had gotten lucky. He emerged from the program with the ability of precognition. He perceived the present and future as a double-exposure, one negative laid on top of the other. It had taken him some time to be able to discern which was which, but by the time he met Bree, he'd gotten the hang of it.
