Character name: Mateo Hurtado Age: 25 Profession: Assistant cook??? On-call Vet :D)-/
Power, if applicable: dog whisperer BASICALLY he has a constant mind-link with any dogs in around a two mile radius. He can strengthen or weaken it if he needs to but is incapable of turning it off. It's essentially the mental equivalent of a radio playing in the background. Dogs linked to him can get a pretty good, silent grasp of what he wants or needs, and will follow these orders without being asked; they treat him as a pack leader. If he wants something very specific done, he has to 'send out' the orders himself in the form of pictures, sounds, and smells. The wilder the dog, the less control he has over them. Things like wolves and coyotes, etc, generally disregard him entirely.
Where do they live?: AM Apartments, rooming with Jaesun, Hyunsoo, Hyunsoo's cat, and Mateo's two dogs. V. crowded, but full of love.
Personality: Gullible with a capital G. Mateo is trusting to the point of recklessness. He's not completely oblivious - ridiculousness and teasing will still blip on his radar and telling him the sky is green will only earn you a Look. But any behavior, truthful or otherwise, he takes at face value. Subtlety and insinuation generally fly right over his head. If faced with doubts, he'll take the more optimistic option. The more cynical people he's met assume he's just stupid - which isn't entirely true. He's very stupid when it comes to reading people, but not an unintelligent person. He's friendly, and though decidedly not the best person to turn to for advice, he's always there to help better the situation in whatever way he can. He's very malleable, easily adjusting to whatever role he needs to fill. Little acts for other people bother him not at all - waking up early, running errands, fixing a tire, taking care of appointments. He's very happy with domestic tasks. (The exception to this is cleaning - he is not and never has been a clean person. His personal spaces are a mess.) Crowds and large social gatherings in general tend to put him off, and he's more likely to stay glued to Jaesun's side than go off and socialize on his own. Privacy is very important to him, and if he's unable to go off by himself for long periods of time he starts to go stir-crazy and cranky. Being alone with Jaesun or his dogs qualifies well enough as privacy, and he never turns away their company.
Mateo's hobbies are simple - running, sleeping, playing with his dogs, and watching football (of the soccer variety). The other constant is that he loves collecting things. Cards, comics, miniature cars, anything that he can hunt and compile. If anyone ever introduces him to Pokemon it. is. over. As with most things, he's willing to try any activity or sport at least once with an open mind. He does his best to keep up with Jaesun's obsessions du jour, but he's usually slow to catch on and left behind and confused when Jaesun has already whirwinded onto the Next Thing.
His personal worries are dealt with on his own. He'll take a nap or a run to clear his head if he needs to, or simply lay on the couch and attune himself to his dogs' thoughts instead of his own. Very rarely do any interpersonal troubles worry him enough for him to voice them to anyone else - the exception being Jaesun. Even then, it takes quite a lot of guilt or browbeating for him to spit out what he's unhappy with, and then he generally regrets saying anything in the first place. He's easily frustrated but not easily angered, and bounces back from both quickly, if sometimes sullenly. He's quick to apologize to soothe others, whether he was in the wrong or not. The notable exception is if he and his are threatened - then it's Kill Switch Engage. He's extremely protective. If he thinks someone is a danger, he'll go out of his way to avoid them and keep them away from his friends, family, and especially Jaesun.
