What you want in an IJ friend: Someone who shares or at least understands my politics if they don't share them. Someone who shares at least one of two of the same fandoms. Someone who loves or at least likes cats.
What you don't want in an IJ friend: Bigots, homophobes, people who are anti-christian or anti-religion. I don't care if you have a religion or not, just as long as you don't criticize people who do.

I'm 39 years old, underemployed, disabled, an editor, a cat lover, bisexual, a "liberal" (this term means something else in Canada, but I believe it's commonly used in the States to refer to people with left-wing political beliefs), a christian, a little weird sometimes.
