I more or less copypasted this from my first proper journal entry, but! An introduction is an introduction is a hello. Speaking of-

Hello! I'm Joann, and this is my journal. Isn't it lovely? The username is the Latin (and, well, Greek, actually) root of 'anthology', which in this case is using the 'a collection of selected writings by one author' meaning of the word. But that's not the best bit: the best bit is that 'anthologia' comes from anthos, flower, and logia, collecting. So the word actually means 'flower-gathering'! The later meaning is a metaphorical reference to "'flowers' of verse, small poems by various writers gathered together". See? I told you it was lovely!

So here I am, gathering flowers. I'm eighteen, by the way. Legal, for all the good that does me. And finishing up high school as of now. I sing, also! In a choir. Not a high school choir, mind, because I'm homeschooled. (That would make a very small choir. Of one. Hardly a choir.) (Oddly enough, Firefox doesn't recognise 'homeschooled' as a word.)

I'm also fandomish and a dork and endlessly fascinated by things like etymology (you may have guessed, given that I rambled on about the meaning and origin of my username two paragraphs in). I like Doctor Who and Star Trek, among other forms of fiction, and really can't think of all of them offhand. It's hard! So you'll just have to find out along the way.

Anyway, I think that's all right for starters, yes? And I regard questions as lovely things, too, and therefore well worth asking.
