Hi there! I'm the new kid, Callirhoe. A bit about me -- I'm 22, a resident of Minnesota (and thus of the US Central time zone), a recent college graduate with only the vaguest of plans for my future involving more school and probably ending up teaching in some form. I have an English BA, focusing on medieval and Renaissance literature and on translation (my bachelor's thesis was a bunch of translations of German poems from the 13th/14th centuries, so, you know, I am an ultra-nerd). I've been involved in RPG on IJ for about two and a half years, and I've been an X-Men fan since I was small and would steal comic books from my older brother, but this is actually my first Marvel game, so treat me gently, please. :) Oh, and I'm rarely on AIM, so e-mail is the best way of contacting me, followed by commenting me at my CDJ, [info]callirhoe.

I bring in Mr. Moody Loner Extraordinaire, Kevin Ford, codename Wither. His full profile can be found here, but in brief, he's a troubled child who doesn't really like being around people, with a Tragic Past and a severely messed-up psyche. His mutation is a "death touch" -- if he touches anything organic with his bare skin (including living things, plants, food, wooden things, most fabrics, etc.), it immediately begins to decay, and within a matter of seconds it will be nothing more than a pile of dust. This is a freaky power that he hates, particularly since he accidentally killed his father just after it manifested, and yet it has a draw and he feels that it wants him to use it. Cue angst and self-loathing in spades. Because of this, he fears getting too close to anyone else in case he hurts them, too, and tends to stay to himself, keep his head down, and avoid being noticed. He does have more than a bit of a temper and will lash out verbally when he gets into a funk, and is downright nasty at times. Kevin's not a bad kid at heart, though, and he'd really like more than anything to be normal. He's very creative, loves art, and is often to be found drawing, painting, or (his favorite) metalworking at his own little workstation in the garage. If caught at the right moment, he can be civil and deal with people okay, as long as they don't try to get too close or touch him. Oh, and he's been around for nearly a year, and while the first few months were really rough, he's settled down a bit.

So, yes, that's Kevin! Please enjoy, or not, as you choose. I know it's difficult coming into a game with an antisocial character, but I will definitely make the effort to get to know your characters even if he won't, and I'd love any connections you'd like to throw at me. Those he's pissed off or who have pissed him off in the past? People who will further lower his self-esteem in their own particular idiom? People who are nice to him even though he's not that nice back? Maybe even (gasp!) a friend or two who can deal with his personality? He's got some canon connections I'd love to explore as far as possible, too, but we can get to those when we get to them.

Hey! I'm Wes and I'm following the trend of having a billion people. Let me know if you want any connections or plots.

Bobby Drake is the loudmouth prankster that loves attention and the sound of his own voice. I imagine Kevin gives him the creeps and he tries to stay cordial while maintaining his distance. After all, he wants to be liked by everyone! He just has a hard time figuring Kevin out. Though he's grown far more close to Rogue recently, with a similar mutation, which may help him adjust to Kevin better.

Warren Worthington III is his usual cocky, rich boy self. He's all about the women and trying to network with people older than him. Needless to say, a younger boy as Kevin he may only know as 'the kid with the death touch'. Warren would be civil and tactful about it, but wouldn't have much to say to him.

Rahne Sinclair is that naive Scots girl who turns into a werewolf and has to keep all those animal urges at bay. She's presently crushing on Josh, so whatever connection happens between Kevin and Josh might affect his connection with Rahne. She's shy but generally nice and accepting. She'd pity Kevin for his ability endlessly.

Neena Thurman is Domino. No other way to describe her. Badass and overconfident. She's older and tends to stick with the college kids, so she might not know him too well.

Sofia Mantega is new to the school, but much like canon she's a bundle of energy who loves everyone. So she'll love and pester Kevin, whether he likes it or not, just because he's a living person.

Hi, Wes! Nice to meet you. :)

I would think that Bobby would be one of the people that Kevin would automatically hate, just for being popular and well-liked. So he'd do his part in the staying-away-from-each-other bit. :) But yeah, it seems like Kevin's going to be at least somewhat close to Rogue, so that might pull them together a bit? I don't know! Let's find out.

Likewise, Kevin probably doesn't pay much attention to Warren beyond his typical reaction of "why can't I have THAT power, aargh."

I think Rahne might not be Kevin's favorite person in the world (because he hates being pitied and nice people tend to get on his nerves, and also he despises Josh, grr), but he wouldn't go out of his way to show it unless he's in a particularly bad mood. He'd probably rather just avoid her.

And I don't think he'd really know Neena much, since she's older.

Aaand he definitely will not take kindly to getting pestered by Sofia, oh my! People who are that cheery and energetic are bonkers, in his world.

I can definitely see Bobby's personality pushing Kevin away. Once he gets closer with Rogue though, maybe there could be awkward times bonding over their mutual friend. We'll find out, definitely!

My inner Rahne would secretly be devestated if Kevin yelled at her, which almost makes me want to find a way to have her push his buttons with her sympathy. I'm a sucker for drama.

The horrible thing about Sofia, though, is that she won't give up. He can tell her off and then the next day she'll be inviting him out for dinner. Let the mayhem begin.

That would be interesting to see! :)

Aww, poor Rahne! I'm definitely up for that at some point. We can certainly chat about it. I, too, like treating characters badly. ;P

Haha, she and Paige both, I guess. That's cool! He is a tough nut to crack, but it's not impossible, I think, and she might just wear him down if she's persistent about it.
