Hi there! I'm the new kid, Callirhoe. A bit about me -- I'm 22, a resident of Minnesota (and thus of the US Central time zone), a recent college graduate with only the vaguest of plans for my future involving more school and probably ending up teaching in some form. I have an English BA, focusing on medieval and Renaissance literature and on translation (my bachelor's thesis was a bunch of translations of German poems from the 13th/14th centuries, so, you know, I am an ultra-nerd). I've been involved in RPG on IJ for about two and a half years, and I've been an X-Men fan since I was small and would steal comic books from my older brother, but this is actually my first Marvel game, so treat me gently, please. :) Oh, and I'm rarely on AIM, so e-mail is the best way of contacting me, followed by commenting me at my CDJ, [info]callirhoe.

I bring in Mr. Moody Loner Extraordinaire, Kevin Ford, codename Wither. His full profile can be found here, but in brief, he's a troubled child who doesn't really like being around people, with a Tragic Past and a severely messed-up psyche. His mutation is a "death touch" -- if he touches anything organic with his bare skin (including living things, plants, food, wooden things, most fabrics, etc.), it immediately begins to decay, and within a matter of seconds it will be nothing more than a pile of dust. This is a freaky power that he hates, particularly since he accidentally killed his father just after it manifested, and yet it has a draw and he feels that it wants him to use it. Cue angst and self-loathing in spades. Because of this, he fears getting too close to anyone else in case he hurts them, too, and tends to stay to himself, keep his head down, and avoid being noticed. He does have more than a bit of a temper and will lash out verbally when he gets into a funk, and is downright nasty at times. Kevin's not a bad kid at heart, though, and he'd really like more than anything to be normal. He's very creative, loves art, and is often to be found drawing, painting, or (his favorite) metalworking at his own little workstation in the garage. If caught at the right moment, he can be civil and deal with people okay, as long as they don't try to get too close or touch him. Oh, and he's been around for nearly a year, and while the first few months were really rough, he's settled down a bit.

So, yes, that's Kevin! Please enjoy, or not, as you choose. I know it's difficult coming into a game with an antisocial character, but I will definitely make the effort to get to know your characters even if he won't, and I'd love any connections you'd like to throw at me. Those he's pissed off or who have pissed him off in the past? People who will further lower his self-esteem in their own particular idiom? People who are nice to him even though he's not that nice back? Maybe even (gasp!) a friend or two who can deal with his personality? He's got some canon connections I'd love to explore as far as possible, too, but we can get to those when we get to them.

Hi there! I'm Kellie! I was looking over your current character list and I was briefly in BNW myself. I played Clare Boot ([info]not_gen) before having to drop out due to RL stuff.

I'm here with a bunch of different characters:

First is Laurie Collins. She's much like Laurie from the New X-Men series. She's very quiet, keeps to herself, and while she has a greater amount of control of her powers, she is always afraid that any sudden change in behavior is her fault. She is also very cautious about finding friendships as she still is always wondering if they're true rather than simply created thanks to her powers. Feel free to email me at zangarmarshling@gmail.com for plotting and what not. :) We can definitely talk in depth about stuff if you like!

Second is Kitty Pryde. She is very cheerful and extremely smart, though more so with books and technology. She thinks she has a very odd crush on Dominic Petros. She's pretty sure she does. She's not entirely sure what to really make of it. She is constantly pointing out when things are against the rules, but really has a big heart for her friends and fellow students. Even if they call her names and think she's weird.

Third is Lorna Dane. She's a college-age student who takes classes at the local university and online classes. She does some training here and there at Xavier's and also lives at Xavier's. Bobby has made it his goal to hook Lorna and Alex Summers up. She's kind of floored with suddenly finding her birth father, too.

Fourth, and last, is Scott Summers. He's...Scott. Yep. That's it for Scott. Haha.

Welcome! :)

Oh, hi! I remember your Clare. :) What a small RP world it is, really. Nice to see you again!

I'd love to chat with you about Laurie, considering she's canon-ly a pretty important person in Kevin's life, so I'll e-mail you about that when I have a moment. At this point, he definitely has a crush, and I think he'd probably be rather tongue-tied around her and not know how to begin a conversation.

I don't think Kevin would want much to do with Kitty -- cheerful people make him sort of twitchy -- but it might be interesting to throw them together sometime and see what happens!

And since Lorna is older, I doubt they'd really know each other much either.

But Scott, I think, is someone Kevin could really look up to. Especially since Kevin's trying to learn more about mechanics and engines and metal things, and he'd appreciate having a mentor in that, maybe? I think focusing on what he can do as opposed to his limitations would be really good for him and help crack him out of the state he's in now. :)
