Where: Out behind the school
What: Flying practice
Sofia Mantega had only been at Xavier's for a few days, but she was already so bored! They had decided it best she start school on Monday, since so many classes were off-course this week with Parent's Week. It was an understandable idea, but it left Sofia with little to do surrounded by strangers and their relatives. She was her normal exuberant, friendly self to everyone - but it didn't mean she was completely enjoying herself. How boring it was, when her roommate and Mr. Cassidy were in class! She still hadn't matched all the names she met on the Internet to faces in school and it frustrated her.
Bundled up for the weather, Sofia had wandered behind the school to look at the basketball court and then further off into the grass. There, she began experimenting with her aerokinesis. The whole point of the school was to learn how to control her powers. So until someone actually sat down with her, she'd try herself. Not feeling ashamed and being able to experiment, she tried using her powers to let the wind carry various sounds in the distance to her. Birds, trees rustling in the wind, students gossiping as the exited class? All faintly came to her ear as she paused, listening. Finding that boring and one of her easiest tricks, Sofia next attempted something she hadn't even come close to mastering: flying.
Sofia knew she could generate winds strong enough to lift objects larger than herself, but she still wasn't graceful when it came to her own frame. She could push herself up, but then keeping herself afloat and adjusting her height in the air accordingly was a work in progress that usually resulted in spinning herself around embarrassingly or falling onto her butt. Still, she tried, shaking in the wind as she lifted herself up off the ground, hind quarters coming far faster than her top half. "*Sigh*." She was never going to get this right.
