Who: Jono and Remy When: Saturday Night, after Wanda's spell Where: Their Dorm room What: Jono waking up rather...normal.
Jono gasped and woke suddenly and violently, from a deep sleep.
He had gasped.
He sat straight up in his bed and flung off the covers. His hands flew to his chest where his heart was racing behind his suddenly intact rib cage. He ran his fingers up his now solid torso as he drew another breath, filling his lungs deeply. His hands slowly made their way up to his throat, his jaw and his lips all of which were still hidden beneath his mask. He could feel the air leaving his nostrils on his fingers as he exhaled and he could smell the unlit scented candle on the nightstand as he inhaled.
He froze then, unsure of whether he was actually awake or just very vividly dreaming. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that he had dreamed of being whole again. Jono glanced around the dark room. According to his alarm clock it was just after one in the morning and Remy was snoring lightly in his bed. He swung his legs over the side of his own bed and hurried into the bathroom, flicking on the light. He immediately turned to the mirror. His reflection didn’t really look any different since his face and chest were still covered by the familiar black straps. But he certainly felt different. He could see his chest rising and falling and he could feel the air expand his lungs. He quickly fumbled with the mask, undoing it as fast as he could, his eyes widening as the straps fell to the floor and revealed himself.
His body looked exactly the way it had last year before his powers had manifested. There was no glowing orange energy pouring forth, no gaping hole. He was normal again. He opened his mouth experimentally and even stuck out his tongue. He had a tongue! It was then that he suddenly noticed an incredible empty feeling gnawing inside of him. Only it was totally different from the emptiness he had become accustomed to the past few months. It was a feeling he’d almost completely forgotten. Hunger. He was so hungry! Was he actually capable of eating?
He reached out and turned on the faucet and cupped his hands underneath the stream of water. Then he lifted his hands to his new mouth cautiously and took a sip. He tasted the cold water on his tongue and felt it all the way down his throat to his stomach as he drank. He was drinking! When he looked back at his reflection, he was surprised to see tears streaming from his eyes as he found himself somewhere between elation and terror at the sudden change. It was quite literally like being dead for months and suddenly coming back to life. He wiped his eyes hastily. If this was a dream it was by far the most realistic one he’d ever had and either way he was sure as hell going to make the best of it.
Once he was finally able to tear himself away from the mirror, he wandered back out into the dorm room. ”Remy!” he projected to his roommate, hoping the buzzing from his mental shield would be enough to wake him up. Only Jono didn’t feel Remy’s mental shield nor did he feel his thoughts brush against the other boy’s mind. He hadn’t even projected his thoughts at all. His powers were just…gone? So that must mean…”Remy,” Jono said aloud, testing out the name for the first time on his lips. “Remy!” he said it again, louder this time.
