Julian wanted to smile, he wanted to reassure Vanessa that everything was cool, he wanted to tell her that it would all be fine if he just left now and they never talked about this ever again. But he felt anything but reassured, and Emma's face just wouldn't budge from her typical expression once it fell naturally into place. Her pleading tone tugged at Julian's heartstrings... so the ice witch could feel something after all? She did have a beating heart, and that only made him feel worse, worse that he was overstaying his welcome in Emma's body. "Nessie, please!" Julian begged her to stop, although it came out more angry than he meant. "Let it go! You didn't do anything. Don't worry about it!" He pivoted towards her sharply, cape whipping back and eyes icy cold.
It may have been Terry's body but that expression was all Vanessa. It was easier when he could pretend he had the protective shield of Emma's body, and that it wasn't really Vanessa, but it was, and those were really her thoughts, and he didn't know what to think about 'them' anymore. He grabbed her outstretched hand and jerked her towards him, pulling her into a tight hug. He stepped back from the gesture, but with Emma's natural grace he was able to hold her steady against him. He closed his eyes to feel more like himself, and to pretend it was Vanessa he was holding in her normal body. Desperate to find out how she was feeling, and with his body moving on a kind of auto-pilot, he inadvertently resorted to reading her mind again. The sensation this time was both comforting and settling, as Emma's telepathic powerhouse easily sought for answers to Julian's internal questions. 'Best friends?' He was relieved, at least, that she considered him as much, but it still tore at him to hear that they were only... friends. He rest his chin against her shoulder, 'Vanessa... no... you wont...
"You wont lose me!" He said suddenly, tightening his hold when he heard the words come from Emma's voice. "I want to be in my own body again. I want to be Julian Keller. I want you to be Vanessa Carlysle. I want this to be us, Ness. I miss you. I miss it, babe. I know it's complicated, but we don't have to make it complicated. It doesn't have to be weird like that." He knew there was Sofia, that added a whole other layer to this issue, and he felt terrible. Julian sniffed suddenly, he wasn't crying, he wasn't!, his nose was just runny. With his head going a mile a minute, asking thousands of questions: Did Vanessa have feelings for him beyond just friend?, Was she seeing anyone?, Did she think he was hot? He wanted to know how she was feeling, what she felt about Sofia, what he should do, how he should feel, what he should say, etc. His mind started spinning. Unable to render the mental processings of a teenage boy under adolescent trauma, Emma's telepathy failed Julian as his skill and eloquence with the ability was most definitely not up to par. "I... and... we... Ugh!" Julian pulled away quickly, holding the back of hand to his nose. It was bleeding, and his head was ringing. "My head, Uuhhn, it hurts...!"
