Two days in a row Tandy had gone off on her own, there was something so therapeutic about being out on her own able to do whatever she wanted, it didn't cross her mind that her mother could cut her credit off at any moment or that her accounts didn't hold as much as she thought they did. It didn't matter, she hadn't gone spending crazy as she had yesterday, instead she'd gone out to pick up some charcoal for one of the guys at school, she was going to have to do the whole "want me to pose," thing for him when she handed over the goods as well. The thought made her laugh, and think of Paige for some odd reason, probably because the topic of cute guys was always going to make her think of Paige now, and probably blush whenever she saw Kurt, which hadn't been in forever so whatever. She hummed to her ipod, which was once again playing Kaskade's Steppin' Out song, she apparently liked the song more than she even realized. The sun had just set about five minutes earlier, the sky still had a lovely drop of colors, that twilight moment before everything finally dimmed into the darkness that Tandy neither noticed nor cared much about. Her boots clicked merrily against the sidewalk as she passed other people, some of which were couples and made her a little miffed, but whatever. Her life didn't revolve around having a boyfriend, big deal...still. Those thoughts were pushed from her mind as she allowed the lyrics of her song to fill her mind and buzz intimately into her thoughts...which didn't help since, though a club song, it was really romantic. She sighed out, her breath forming a cloud that vanished in the air above her. Though Tandy could pretend to hold her own in spars or training classes, the truth was, Tandy was completely naive when it came to the real world. She had been coddled and was a girl with a silver spoon still stuck in her mouth. She never thought about people thinking of her as a mark, never thought she would be one of those people taken and never heard from again..she didn't even know there was a practical refugee living in the school with them who had in fact been part of a slave-ring. She wanted to save the world from itself, but she had no idea about the real dangers. The small every day threats that people had to deal with, even at the mansion that didn't teach about that...not that she had heard. She didn't even know what they were training for honestly, it all seemed like a huge game to her. Life seemed like a game, and she was trying to not be her mom, so instead of being all consumed with money she tried to be consumed with activist things, but she wasn't even good at that it seemed. These thoughts were interrupted though, at first by the changing song, but next by the heavy hand that seemed to come out of nowhere and grabbed her elbow, pulling her arm out of her jacket-vest and sliding down her arm to her wrist before pulling her into the shadows of an alley. It was amazing how she went from the 'light' of the crowds into the pitch black of an alley, two worlds existing next to one another without even knowing it. A strange thought as she tripped over her own feet and braced herself for falling, though she ended up colliding with a wall instead. Her knee somehow slammed into the wall, along with her palms and her cheek. "Hey!" She screamed in more of an indignant voice than one that was scared or confused. The hand came from nowhere again before she was even ready, pushing into her hair and shoving her face against the wall before pulling on her hair and dragging her away from the wall and pushing her so that she both stumbled forward and eventually fell forward in the middle back of the alley. Now she was scared, and frozen from that fear. A circle of light appeared though, the beginning of her abilities, she could feel that warmth starting to well up inside of her....but that didn't matter, it didn't keep the man from grabbing at her again, and this time he was rewarded by her yelp of fear. Tears finally sprang to her eyes on their own.... |
