"You don't want to be on this team?" Logan repeated, mostly rhetorically. "Too damn bad. I don't have a computer and I don't go looking for gossip, but guess what? One thing I do have is really, really good hearing. Your little play you and Vanessa put on explained it all for me." Logan crooned his head back because he felt he needed to give some physical space for all the words he was about to say, but his eyes were still locked on Josh's. "You want my sympathy? Y'ain't gonna find it. You live in a cushy school for free with free education, food, and training. You could be out on the street right now instead, if you want. Until you decide you want that, you get to be like the rest of us and do what Charlie says. And if Charlie says split into teams and practice saving the world? Then guess what the hell you're going to be doing!"
Indeed, for someone oblivious to most of the going's on in the online world of Xavier's, Wolverine knew exactly what his team was. He knew about Vanessa's actions as well as Laura's. He knew about Josh's own past. He knew about Rahne's potential. He knew the other kid just lucked out and got placed on the team full of students Xavier wanted Logan to whip into shape because they had a spot. A team full of people who had various traits, some of which Charles likely hoped Logan could relate to. Hoping that Logan could give them counsel or guidance or at least understand where Charles felt like he was coming from when he dealt with Logan. It just made Logan feel more burdened and he had enough of that already. He'd do things his way, always. And he was the best at what he did. That was now going to include his crack-house of misfits.
