Hi Jean-Paul!
I just have to say wow! Thank you for taking the time to make this for me! It was very nice of you. :)
Its been really education. But you stumped me, you know that? I had to listen to this four times before I could like actually form an opinion. And I'm still not sure I can actually make a judgment call without having any actual translations. I guess that's the beauty of music, right? (What is the language of danser! Or something like that...)
I don't know if I would say those are the "best" songs - what are we talking about? Tonality? Production quality? If its the latter, no one can come near the musical juggernaut that is Céline Dion. (The way she hits herself really scares me by the way; it has to hurt.)
Me, personally, I'm not sure if I like the néo-trad stuff, but that's probably just a difference of opinion. I will say I really liked Malajube, especially track #15. (Does it really get that cold there? brr!) I like more that kind of stuff. I guess #4 was good, but I don't know if it was punk-ish enough. It was punk, like MxPx is "punk". It could have been harder I thought. Oh, and #12 too. I like her voice, its like honey or maybe more like sugar - light and sweet.
I sent you a song back - I forgot Rufus Wainwright was from Montreal. I think his voice is beautiful. He doesn't sing in French, but he counts, right?
