If she was on any other team, Vanessa would have left Josh alone long ago. She wanted to make amends with her fellow students, but she hadn't wanted to push so hard. But having to see him three days a week, to trust him during team challenges... She felt like they had to get past this brick wall of distrust. But was it even possible? All the signs were pointing to no. The wall seemed to just get fortified over time, rather than provide her with any sense of hope for change. The observant girl caught sight of his fists for a moment, the change causing her to draw back a step just as he took a step toward her.
The words caused her to give a shudder and withdraw - not a step back, but within herself, huddling up a little and almost shrinking into herself. That explained the extreme emotions of both Josh and Bobby, and probably Alex if she ever had reason to run across him. She'd heard a little about the situations from Regan... but not very much. She pushed back some hair nervously. She wasn't sure she could keep pressing this, uneasy and uncertain now, moreso than ever before. She took a deep breath, reaching out as he yanked the door open. She put a hand on Josh's wrist. "You know it doesn't work like that!" she retorted, but her voice was shaky now. She withdrew her hand just as quickly as she reached out. "You can't do that do Rahne, or the new boy." She averted her gaze, stumbling backward. "I'm... sorry. So sorry," she mumbled, chest tightening, knowing the words were useless, but having no others to substitute them with.
