"Oh, um, thanks." Laurie would have been thankful that she was sitting had she known that Sofia otherwise would have hugged her. Though she knew it was not the case, Laurie was terrified that her powers might be more potent if she was touching someone, and a hug would have destroyed the calm around the poor girl. "The people here... do seem really nice." Laurie decided to ignore the mention of powers, not finding that part to be as desirable as Sofia did.
Laurie was quiet a moment, before nodding in agreement and replying, "Sure, I guess I can try." Laurie scooted her chair over- just enough to be polite- and then reached over to find her bag of thread.
"Money? Oh, no, I meant for free." Laurie sat back up, bag of thread in hand, and set it on the table as she added, "Really. If you like it... I want you to have it." Sofia was very nice, and Laurie hadn't spoken to many people- offline- since coming to Xavier's. And though she wouldn't admit it, it was nice to have someone admire the bracelets she made. Sure her mother was always complimentary, but there was a difference between your mom liking your work and a stranger liking it.
Though maybe Sofia only liked it because Laurie wanted her to? Maybe she was using her pheromones unintentionally to get people to like her work? If she was, then was the gift really a nice gift? After all, could it really be considered nice if someone liked it at the time because of someone else's influence? Laurie took a deep breath, nervous once more as she offered the bag to Sofia and said quietly, almost a whisper, "Um, you start... by picking three colors... that you like." Laurie was going to start Sofia on a simple bracelet... and then probably run away and hide outside somewhere.
