who: Sam Guthrie and Scott Summers when: Saturday late afternoon where: Back lawn what: Sam comes home from work and finds the melted half of what remains of Bobby's ice sculpture. He's not the only one who has stumbled upon the back lawn's latest addition.
Sam Guthrie ran a hand through his unkept hair and then wiped it off on his faded red polo shirt. He had returned from yet another unexciting day working at Target, Guthrie now having gotten used to the grindstone of it. He thought little more of his day at work as he approached the school, relieved to have some freedom to do what he wanted - at least for the next twelve hours until he had to get up and go back to work. Sam took his usual route, a creature of habit, and made his way back to the boys' dormitory. He paused on the walkway when he noticed an unusual addition to the scenery behind the campus.
Walking onto the grass and crossing the lawn, Sam stood before what looked to be some kind of melted ice sculpture. Whatever it was, it had once been huge and had obviously been the handiwork of Bobby Drake unless they had gotten another new mutant with that ability at the school. Sam sighed, scratching at his head again and taking in the abstract and unwelcome sight. It was like Sam was back home, walking into the back field to find his brothers having built the most unsafe tree house in the world. He would pretend to be proud but really he'd worry about what the story behind it was and why they did it. Sam need not pretend to be anything about the statue, but wondered what if anything had transpired at the school today to make Bobby forge such a mass of ice and leave it to soak in the grass. "S'like livin' at the playground instead o' the school itself."
