Who: Kevin, OT any juniors who so desire, plus Dr. McCoy/Rahne? Multiple takers are welcome.
When: Thursday morning, English class.
Where: Classroom!
What: Kevin, having missed class on Wednesday due to hiding in his room to nurse his broken nose, is reluctantly showing his mangled face to the public.
The worst thing about having a broken nose, Kevin discovered early on, was that it made sleeping next to impossible. He couldn't really breathe through his nose, and every time he turned his head it sent a stab of pain through his face -- so Kevin, who was a restless sleeper to begin with, had been up all night. Painkillers helped to some extent, but he still couldn't sleep, and he'd spent most of Wednesday curled up in his bed, drawing a little and dozing as he could, and doing a whole lot of thinking and wondering about what the hell was going on.
The second-worst thing about having a broken nose was that Cessily fucking Kincaid had broken it, and she was in his classes, and it was finals so it wasn't like he could just blow those classes off. This really sucked. But he was determined to pass junior year, and he had to take these exams to do that, so he dragged himself down to class on Thursday morning, his hair brushed low over his eyes to try to disguise the ugly bruising around his eyes and the swollen-looking bump on his nose. At least it had been a clean break, and his nose wasn't going to heal crooked or anything, but at the moment it was still very noticeable.
Kevin slipped into a seat in the back of the room. Arriving early so he'd be first in the room was a good plan, he hoped -- it gave him a little time to arrange himself so his messed-up face wasn't going to be entirely evident to everyone. Maybe he'd be lucky and no one would look at him. As was his habit even on days when he didn't have two nice shiners, he crunched up as small as possible in his seat, keeping his head down and hoping not to be noticed.
