who: Bobby and Hank
when: 3.5 years ago
where: Library
what: SECRET ORIGINS. Xavier has left 13-year old new arrival Bobby Drake alone to complete his coursework. Hank walks in and Bobby can't help but stare at the unusual teacher.
Bobby Drake may have finally found the thing that could ruin his awesome new life at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters with other fellow mutants: schoolwork! The kids here were cool even if they were all older, the staff was fun, and working on his mutant powers with the chance of being a super hero one day was just about the greatest thing ever. However, the honeymoon was over, and now three days into the mansion life Bobby was faced with schoolwork once again. He was the youngest in the school apparently, with no classmates or course curriculum to speak of. Instead, Professor Xavier was going to take time out of his busy schedule to work with Bobby every day for a few hours between his other classes until he'd be old enough to get in a proper grade next fall for freshman year.
His baseball cap was sitting next to his homework, Xavier not allowing him to wear it in the library. Bobby scratched at his shaggy hair, clear indention from his hat in it. He was wearing an oversized black T-shirt with white text and a skateboarding logo on it. His khaki shorts were frayed at the ends, evidence of both how long Bobby had them and how much he favorited them. The clothes dwarfed Bobby, who was still rather small for his age and just now going through the part of puberty that left him a lanky, though still small, mess beneath the baggy clothes.
Charles had rolled out of the library to take a phonecall, leaving Bobby with some 'classwork' to do. It was all pretty much busy work if it wasn't homework with how their session was going. It felt like forever since Xavier had left. The table was littered with different assignments Bobby was trying to work through. The sloppy sheets of paper opposite Bobby on the table was his Algebra homework. He had completed it first, since he kind of liked math. It sounded weird, but numbers just made sense to Bobby and he liked getting the easiest thing done first. English though? This was a nightmare. He needed a distraction! Anything!
Then he entered. The furry blue guy Bobby had seen around. While Bobby loved being a mutant, the obvious mutants in the school were really unnerving. They looked so cool, but he was afraid to talk to them. Really, after his powers manifested, he had been more quiet than he ever had been his usually rambunctious life. His father had been in heaven. Bobby gulped as he watched Hank McCoy move around, eyes glued on the man until it looked like he was glancing Bobby's way. Then the 13-year old quickly pretended to be busy with homework, looking up again moments later to stare once he assessed that the coast was clear. This place was so cool!
