Jay thought about Sooraya's faith, too. All the time. He had never faced so big an obstacle! Even being from such different families as Julia hadn't daunted him quite so much (though Julia's father had effectively killed him, and he would have stayed dead were it not for his powers). He persevered, though. He had not yet let anything stand in the way of true love, and he wasn't about to start. He knew the difficulties, though, and what he would, ultimately, have to do in order to keep her love. He was going to sacrifice a lot if he went through with it - not only his own faith and, as Paige had put it, his family, but the trust of his sister, and of his brother, whom he had just started to speak on good terms with again. But he was in love, and none of that quite seemed to matter.
Not to mention there was something comforting about the Koran, he had found. It was mostly due to Sooraya's influence, but he found himself enjoying - and believing - more on each new read through.
He looked forward to the movie night greatly. He had at least told both his siblings that he planned to skip out on prom, so it wouldn't be a surprise when no red wings graced the dance floor. He hurried to the Rec Room right after dinner, finishing off a soda on the way there. He couldn't even go barging in on their designated meeting in a public room. He drew up short and knocked on the door before cracking it open just a bit. "Sooraya?"
