who: Sam and Jay Guthrie when: Saturday evening where: Jay's dorm room what: Sam catches wind that his younger brother has returned and sets out to mend their relationship.
Sam Guthrie was a bad brother. He wasn't sure why and he wasn't about to think on it longer to decide if it was his genetics or upbringing that were to be blamed. The fact of the matter was that Sam was a terrible older sibling. He either took being protective of his younger brothers and sisters too far like he did with Paige, or he got so skittish like with Jay that he pretty much let their friendship die. He had pushed Jay before and it had ended badly, so Sam had thought giving the kid some space might make him happy. But then Jay would never get ahold of him, never comment back to him, and never try to speak with him. It was like he lived to avoid Sam, and now the eldest Guthrie feared he had been too passive waiting for Jay to make the first move again. If Sam didn't act now, his brother might never speak to him again.
Knocking on Jay's door, Sam didn't barge in solely for the sake of respecting John's space if he were in the room. Back on the Guthrie farm, Sam would just walk right in no matter how many siblings were living in any one room at a given moment. Especially when it came to a serious conversation he needed to have, because he didn't want to give anyone a chance to jump out a window. Guthrie kids really had a thing for jumping out windows, bless Lucinda Guthrie's heart. "Jay? ...Joshua? May Ah come in?"
