"It was a joke, Cas." Sam sighed. he should know better. He'd thought, maybe even hoped, that Cas might have acquired a sense of humor, since the last time Sam had seen him. Apparently that wasn't the case. "I remember every damned detail, every little thing. I really don't care who pulled me out, but I'd like to know, just so, you know. I'd know." Sam shrugged. He didn't know, and didn't care, if Cas could follow his train of thought on that.
At the mention of Dean, Sam felt a flutter in his heart. "Dean has his own life now. I'm not part of that. I just want him to be happy, and I don't think I can be part of that." Aside from the fact he knew Dean would give his life for Sam, because he'd done it and proven it and gone to hell for it. Sam never questioned his brother's love. "I just want him to be happy, Cas."
