Loki sighed. He'd almost forgotten that Steve didn't seem to understand any answer that wasn't direct and to the point. There never seemed to be any room for explanation or grey area with the man and he was sure that was what often led to their miscommunication. "Nothing specific as of yet. I do have time to change his mind."
Steve's next statement only served to confuse Loki. "How was he not trying to help? Knowing what he does through his work about the flow of time, he asked if any of the possible outcomes of the people here knowing about magic had been discussed amongst the leaders and suggested that if it hadn't yet been, then maybe you should. He took his knowledge of these things and presented them to all the leaders on this mission to make sure something very important wasn't left out of the plans. He mentioned that there were a number of options to help avoid this and you started talking about messing with people's heads. Something he never mentioned in his original message. That seems more like you jumping to conclusions. Then when you did answer, it was the answer of someone who had not talked to anyone familiar with the possible outcomes, like me. Or him actually. He pointed out that there was a possible hole in your plan that could lead to dire consequences and you dismissed him because you thought you already had the answer. Can you not see how that could be an even larger mistake?"
Loki clenched his fists in frustration, but did not otherwise outwardly react. "No, it does not mean a democracy, but a good leader also relies on their team to supply information that they specialize in. That is why it is better to have people of different disciplines on each team. The fact remains that Theo and I are both intimately aware of the destruction we could cause if we don't take this into account. He merely asked that you do so, and you started going on about some film. He did not mention doing anything to anyone's mind until after you brought it up."
Running a hand through his hair in frustration, Loki did his best to keep his cool, but at this point it felt a lot like Steve was projecting his own responses onto what Theo had said during the text conversation and he quite simply didn't know how to fix it. Taking yet another deep breath, Loki gave it another shot. "What it comes down to is that someone who knows about these things came to you and the other leaders with a concern, and you seemingly dismissed it without consideration. And then, when Tony did consider it, you jumped on him as well. Just because you don't think it's a big deal, does not make it so."
Loki looked Steve dead in the eyes then. "A good military leader would also listen to the advice of his team, if they knew more on a subject than they did. A good military leader does not assume that they know more about all aspects of a battle. In my experience, that often leads to failure." It was, in fact, one of the reasons why he had failed so often in his own past.
