"Good," John agreed. "Because that's probably the best course of action. Let Steve and the take point here, support 'em from the background." John wasn't as far in the background as he needed to be, talking to Derek on Steve's behalf. But, there was no helping that. John was the best one to do it and only John knew why.
"Did you know you could do that? Before you did, I mean." Cocking his head to one side, he watched Marcus calmly. "She might not know now. But, when you get back, you can tell her."
He laughed softly. "I can wager a guess. He'd think you had been celebrating something a little too hard with whatever you got that passes for alcohol in your world. It's what I'd have thought before arriving myself."
