"It's all right, Mary," Severus whispered, shaking his head ever so slightly. "I didn't expect you to. In fact, I didn't even expect that much," he added with a small shrug, finally releasing his hold on her clothing and pulling back just far enough to look her in the eye. He had to admit, however, that he was glad he'd had those very instincts -- not to rush her -- before she was attacked. That would make it all the easier not to rush her now.
