Who: Remus and Severus What: A little chat When: Sunday evening Where: The Entrance Hall Rating: Low Status: Complete
As he left the Great Hall once he'd finished supper, Severus never would have guessed that he would have run into Lupin outside. Never in a million years. Because Lupin had watched him all throughout the evening meal -- oh so subtly -- to determine when he was almost finished eating. And then, when Severus was nearly done, Lupin had sauntered, again subtly, out of the Great Hall, taking a moment to glance -- subtly, of course -- at the Slytherin table on his way, in order to confirm that he had indeed almost cleared his plate. And then, when Severus stepped into the entrance hall, Lupin oh so subtly collided with him, as if he'd forgotten something inside, and had just made to go back and get it, when -- oops! -- he'd run into somebody, and in falling all over himself to apologize, he'd conveniently forgotten whatever it was that he (would claim) he'd intended to go and fetch.
Obviously, Lupin needed to learn a thing or two about subtlety. If it had been any other time, Severus might have told him off. Except he knew this had been coming -- for at least the past fifteen minutes. Quite apart from that, he also knew that Mary had confided in Lupin about what had happened to her, so if that was what he wanted to talk about, Severus wasn't about to tell him off. Not a chance. "Something on your mind, Lupin?" he asked quietly, raising his eyebrows, once he was fairly certain Lupin had finished apologizing and was about to segue into the evening's topic of conversation.
