Who: Rita and everyone!
What: The Date Auction (Let me know via AIM or email if you have a problem with any of these)
Where: In the Great Hall
When: Backdated to Wednesday before dinner
Rating/Status: Not too high unless there's cursing/Incomplete
ETA: Changed the price for the bidding to 10 sickles. Feel free to hop in if you want one of these people for a date!
Rita had gotten her list down to four boys and four girls, much to her disgust. She'd wanted several people on the auction block, but alas, she couldn't see the reason to put up more than eight people in hopes that she would raise a few Galleons for St. Mungo's. Perhaps next year she would make it ten.
She'd posted the lists around the school letting those who were on it know they would have to be bid on. The following were pulled up to the front as soon as they entered the Great Hall before dinner:
Frank Longbottom
Gideon Prewett
Peter Pettigrew
Evan Rosier
Ainsley Campbell
Amelia Bones
Merribell Gaunt
Ebony Covington
Of course, Rita put on her best smile, charming everyone and of course her voice carried above everyone's as the Great Hall filled up for those who were going to bid or watch the event.
"If I could have everyone's attention for a moment, I'll get started," she called, tucking her curls behind her ears and pushing her glasses up on her nose. "All of you should have had the chance to view the list in the past few days or so and if you would like to bid, you know whom you will bid upon. All proceeds from this auction will go directly to St. Mungo's. Professor Slughorn has agreed to take up your Galleons to owl directly to the hospital as soon as the auction is over. I hope you all won't disappoint. We will begin each bid at ten sickles. I'm sure most of you have that much for chocolate frogs and whatnot, so why not spend it on a date? We will begin with our Head Boy - Frank Longbottom. He's sweet, intelligent, and quite a looker, if I might say so myself. Ladies, feel free to bid anything you like over the asking price."
Rita dragged Frank to the center, where she stood and opened the bidding, waiting with baited breath as the first bid came in.
