Sam had a love of knowledge, both for school and for his own benefit, so it wasn't unusual that the book he choose to read at that particular moment was advanced Greek mythology, a book way above a normal kid's reading level, but he liked it because the book challenged him. When someone at the other end of the table spoke to him, Sam looked up and nodded to the girl.
"It's interesting," he said, getting up from where he stood to walk over to her to continue the conversation, bringing the book along as he did so. "I was reading the story about Jason and the Argonauts. It's one of my favorites," Sam continued, noting that she had a notebook with some notes about something or another. Her handwriting wasn't the best, but he could make out bits and pieces of what they were about. It didn't take long for him to put two and two together, but he wasn't going to ask her about it. Not yet, anyways.
