Adam was surprised with how fine he was, lingering in the hallway, kissing Kyle. "Glad we're on the same page then. Glad it works." And he hoped Kyle felt the same way come morning.
"It does," Kyle agreed, taking a step back, but not letting go of Adam's hand. "So, in the regular world, this would be the point where I'd be asking to see you again," he said, pulling Adam down the stairs.
"I thought we already talked about that," Adam said, but he was grinning as he followed after Kyle. "But I was hoping you'd said that. I want to see you again."
"We did already talk about that," Kyle agreed, always keeping one step below Adam as they headed downwards, looking up at Adam. "Just addressing the formalities. Y'know, making sure..."
"What's there to make sure of? I'm pretty sure I was obvious," Adam said with a grin. "But sure. Formalities. When can I see you again?"
Kyle took another step down and looked up at Adam, deciding to turn things around. "If I said tomorrow, would that make me sound desperate?" he asked.
Adam laughed and shook his head. "No, because I was going to suggest tomorrow."
"I blame us having too much free time on our hands," Kyle confided. "Of course, neither of us would act like this in real life." Probably. Maybe. Regardless of tattoos and changing of one's whole life.
Adam shook his head. "I would have wanted to see you tomorrow no matter where we were." He was just like that, needing to prove that this was a real thing.
“That’s sweet,” Kyle said with a smile. He meant it, too. It was nice to know that someone liked him that much, that regardless of the circumstances, they wouldn’t have wanted to wait. It was sweet, but he couldn’t say he was exactly surprised. Adam was still rather… intense. Maybe at another time, it would have felt like too much. Not right now.
Adam shook his head, laughing darkly at himself. "That's what people say before they never call again. No one wants the sweet guy." It wasn't an accusation, just Adam being honest.
Kyle tugged him down the remainder of the stairs and out into the hall. "Not true. Clearly, I do," he pointed out. "Do I have to repeat that whole thing about accepting compliments again?" he asked.
"I'm accepting the compliment. Just feel like it's a bad sign," Adam said letting himself be pulled along. "I just hope you do want the sweet guy and you don't change your mind."
Kyle stopped and turned to Adam. "I'm not fickle either," he said, firmly. "I know I left before, but I explained that. I'm not a cheater. And since we've been here, I've done everything I'd said I'd do. I'm not suddenly going to up and disappear on you."
Adam stopped short to keep from smacking into Kyle. At his directive Adam looked ashamed and didn't quite make eye contact. "I know you aren't. And I know you haven't...I can't help but worry. That's all."
Kyle bit his bottom lip, indecisive for a moment. "It's just that, hearing all of that again and again... Like you don't trust me, or my judgement, my honesty, my willingness to be with you... It's not nice, like... I don't like the person you're making me out to be when you say those things. I want to be a better person than that."
