Who: Bella and Sirius.
What: Bella is the worst patient ever and while sick Sirius goes to visit.
Where: Lestrange Manor.
When: Some time in 1974.
Rating: PG for drug use.
Status: Closed/Complete.

Really Bella was the worst kind of patient ever. When sick she was very much a petulant child, always had been and more than likely always would be. She tolerated nothing and no one when she wasn't feeling well and if things were not just how she wanted them when she wanted them in such a way then whoever the closest person to her was ended up paying dearly for it. The past couple of days that person had been Rodolphus. Bella wasn't exactly thrilled at the way she treated him after all her snapping at him had lead to more than one fight and when it was all said and done with she felt worse than she had before they started arguing. He knew how she was though. He had known before they married and yet he had still gone through with it and now he was suffering for that choice. The latest fight had been a stupid one. Earlier in the day she had started running fever and as such her body couldn't make up its mind whether it wanted to be hot or cold and she was constantly changing the temp in the room. Rodolphus had come in and open the window complaining that it was far too hot in there for her to be comfortable or for her to have any chance of feeling better and the moment the cooler air had rushed through the room she had raised her had and thrown the nearest thing to her at him - which unfortunately had been one of his mothers crystal vases. His reaction had been volatile to say the least and it had ended with storming out, stating that he would return later with some water and soup for her.

The moment the door closed she had hexed it shut and barred anyone from entering before tossing her wand aside and curling back up underneath the blankets. Most would have found it rather amusing if they could have seen the heiress of the Black family as she was at that moment, curled up in the middle of her bed, blankets drawn up so far so that the only thing that showed on her was the top of her head and a bit of her black hair against the pillows, and complaining like a child. Even though there was no one around to hear her do so she was still complaining. Bitching about the fact that now she was freezing, her throat hurt from screaming at him, her stomach hurt cause she hadn't eaten anything all day due to the fact that everything she ate ended up coming back up, the fact that her bed was too soft while being too hard at the same time. How she hated Rodolphus for not leaving her alone but at the same time leaving her alone. The poor man could not win for loosing while she was sick, no one could really when they came too close to her and disrupted the feel of her room.

Sighing softly she burrowed further down into her bed, drawing the covers around herself tighter as her teeth chattering and wondered what would be the possibility of being able to get some sleep while feeling like this. As much as she loved Rodolphus she hoped that he and the house elves stayed away for a while and left her be in her own misery, for that described her perfectly in that moment, utterly miserable.

It was a viable enough excuse to get out of the house. Having the same terse, tense conversations bleed into the same sharp arguments got boring very quickly. The excuse of visiting his poor, ill cousin had been so benign that it had raised his mother's imperious brow across the breakfast table. Sirius hadn't deigned to respond to it. Apart from the need to stretch his proverbial legs, there was little doubt in his mind that Rodolphus Lestrange was perfectly bungling things. That Lestrange was, no doubt, trying quite hard - which only made it more amusing.

Arriving through the floo, Sirius had taken little proper care toward his appearance. He rarely ever actually made an effort toward proper formal dress unless he was practically coerced. For that day, for such a visit, it was simply trousers of indigo velvet with a charcoal waistcoat over a simple white silk shirt. In rather typical fashion for Sirius, the collar was unbuttoned and the sleeve's cuffs carelessly tied. What Lestrange thought of such lax standards, Sirius neither knew nor cared. Sirius found the man generally taxing, and only spoke to him long enough to suggest that however credible the Lestrange family's healer was, he should perhaps contact that the healer the Blacks used.

That Sirius had license to move freely through Lestrange's home was rather taken for granted. With Bella as the home's mistress, surely he had the liberty to go nearly anywhere he chose. Within the bounds of reason, naturally - whatever those were. He tried the door to the bedroom only to find it locked, which wasn't much of a surprise. His knuckles rapped against one of the double doors.

"Bella, open the door," he called. "I've come to charm you back to health."

Well, something like that. At the very least, he had a trick or two to lift her spirit.

An eye cracked open as the sound of knuckles against the door ripped through her head as though they were pounding on the inside of her head itself. Perhaps she had managed to sleep longer than she had thought she did but still she was in no mood to listen to or see Rodolphus. All they would do was end up fighting again and she really did not have the strength or the energy for it all. Raising her head the scything retort that had been on the tip of the tongue died as the voice that called out was not that of her husband but rather Sirius. For a moment she debated on ignoring him, not really in the mood to see anyone, even if Sirius was one of her favourite people but in the end knowing that if she told him to go away he would only persist and irritate her until she gave in and opened the door she pulled the covers down from over her head and searched around her bed for her wand. Closing her fingers around the slim piece of wood she waved it halfheartedly at the door before tossing it aside again and pulling the covers back up over her head. She didn't last two second though with the covers up over her head before it got too hot for her to handle and she yanked them down and picked up her wand once more. Waving it towards the window she cracked it just a bit, a pleased smile crossing her face as a cool breeze blew threw the room instantly. Rolling over slightly she fluffed the pillow up under her head and watched the door closely, wanting to make sure it was just Sirius and not her husband or an elf or even worse, a Healer, coming in with him.

"If you are Rodolphus' attempt at trying to cheer me up or make me feel better, then go away. I'm really not in the mood for it. And whatever charm you intend to use, its not going to work so you might as well forget it." Her attempt at getting him to go away was like everything else that day, done halfheartedly and the fact that she had already unlocked the door should have told him that whatever she said was the opposite of what she wanted.

Able to fell the ward drop, Sirius opened the door as she began speaking. The suggestion that he was there at Rodolphus's bidding earned a skeptical, mockingly affronted tilt of one brow. He said nothing though, seeing as to how the ill were often inclined to say any number of crazy things- though he did like that she seemed to have taken his words more literally than he'd meant them. Technically, of course, he wasn't supposed to do magic outside of school but Bella had never been the sort to call him on that. The Ministry restrictions were clearly constructed in such a fashion as to be violated. Treating illness, however, fell far beyond his area of interest.

"Oh, come now. I can't help but be charming," he chided, shutting the door behind him.

He flipped the lock on the door, not because it would actually keep Rodolphus out, but because it would at least communicate that he wasn't welcome. Sirius had little care for the company of his cousin's husband. Nearly every opportunity was taken to call attention the fact that for all Rodolphus's age and perceived importance, Sirius had rights and privileges all his own; the ability to command a monopoly on Bella's attention was often the most amusing.

Toeing off his boots, Sirius ambled over to the bed that could only be described as massive. Sirius had little care for shoes, far preferring to go without them whenever possible. His socks were the next to go, his things discarded like a breadcrumb trail from the door. He slipped himself atop the blankets to situate himself next to her. He eased back to lean against the pillows and headboard, more sitting up than laying down. He'd surpassed her in height over the past couple of years, though it had done little to change the dynamic between them. Then again, Bella had never persisted in treating him like a child, even when he had been a child, climbing into her bed when he'd been unable to find sleep during family holidays in southern France. There was enough space between them to avoid exacerbating any fever-induced aversion to contact. As if to test this, he reached over a hand to brush a stray bit of her hair from her forehead.

"Do you feel miserable?" he asked conversationally. Asking her simply how she felt would have been silly, she obviously felt poorly.

He had a point. Sirius all but oozed charm and charisma and Bella knew that once he learned how to harness it completely and utterly and use it to his benefit and learned how to wield it as a weapon and way to convince people to give him just what he wanted with little fanfare involved that the world would have to fear for itself. Bella was proud of that fact though, especially seeing as how she had played a major part in teaching him most of the things he knew. His parents didn't have the patience for doing such a thing and she had heard such a thing come from them time and time again but it never bothered her. One just had to find the right way to capture his attention and then make sure it stayed focused. She had never had a problem with that. Besides they the same type of person, well for the most part they were. They were in similar positions in the family and as such Bella knew what he was going through. She understood the pressure that came with it all and the need to get away from it all and rebel against it all. She quickly learned how to use that to her advantage though to get what her want and to get her parents to leave her alone and now it was her turn to teach Sirius such things and she felt that she was doing a fairly good job at that. Sure his being sorted into Gryffindor had been a major set back and a fairly large slap in the face but she came to terms with it quickly. His being in Gryffindor didn't change him, didn't change them and she wasn't going to let it do such a thing so she had continued on with him as though things hadn't changed a bit. Bella felt that if he parents had done such a thing that they wouldn't have such a hard time dealing with him but she wasn't about to tell them that. Watching them argue with and butt heads with him was entertaining and she wasn't about to put a stop to that sort of thing.

Sitting up she fluffed up the pillows behind her and leaned back against them, the covers drawn up to where she could reach them in case her body decided it wanted to freeze her to death again. Crossing her arms over her chest she watched him cross the room, the urge to tell him to take his shoes off dying as he did just that and she should have known better than to have to tell him such a thing. She knew that he hated them almost as much as she did but it was habit to have to tell people such things and from time to time she forgot that she didn't have to tell him such things. It came from not getting to see him for long periods of time.

Normally she would have shied away from anyone trying to touch her as it wasn't something she let very many people do. The list of people allowed to touch her without being hexed to within an inch of their life was very small but luckily for him he was one of the ones allowed to do such a thing. Touching had always been something they had done freely and Bella had taken comfort in doing such a thing on several occasions while he was growing up. Even if it was to just run her fingers through his hair it was something that had always calmed her. Though his idiotic question that followed his movements had a scowl crossing her face.

"No, I feel like sunshine, puppies and rainbows. Of course I feel miserable. All I do here lately is either freeze to death or burn up, people irritate the fuck out of me just by being near and food holds no appeal whatsoever. So yes, I'm miserable."

The corner of his mouth lifted a bit as she went on. He wasn't laughing at her, but he wasn't about to pretend as if she wasn't perfectly amusing. And he did bear a bit of sympathy. He'd never understand why people tried so aggressively to feed the sick. When he was ill the mere idea only ever made him more irritable. Actually, when he was ill, he much preferred to simply be left alone to sleep through it unless whoever insisted on intruding bore some method of altering his state of being for the better. It was, in fact, this very inclination, that had been on his mind as he'd gotten ready for this little visit. Charms or potions to make her well, he did not possess- but could at least provide a viable distraction.

"Then aren't you lucky I've come to divert you," he murmured, retrieving a small, silver cigarette case from his pocket.

When he clicked it open, it wasn't filled with the black Indonesian sorts of cigarettes he'd picked up a fondness for the previous summer, but a few slender, evenly hand-rolled specimens. This particular variety wouldn't likely do much for her appetite, but at least after an hour or two their sedative lure will slip her into an undisturbed sort of sleep. He was rather hoping she wouldn't ask as to exactly what was in them, or where he'd gotten it. Sirius wasn't yet old enough to easily parley a bit of gold into something truly interesting on Knockturn, but at the muggle record store near St. James Park was another matter altogether.

"Surely you're not so ghastly unwell that you feel compelled to abstain?" he smirked, holding one out to her between two fingers.

It was really very considerate of him, in his own opinion, to find and offer something that might actually improve her condition. Even if she declined, he was certainly going to indulge. He'd managed to get free of his parents' watch and he had no intention of returning to it sober. It was an entirely therapeutic exercise. Keeping the peace was far easier when he submerged himself in a fog of comfortable indifference, easier to keep emotionally distance when his internal climate shifted to something weightless and airy. Around Bella he didn't require such things, but she was exceptionally good company for it. With her, it was just for fun. And medicinal uses, naturally.

"The luckiest," she murmured as she sat up straighter and peered over at the case he had pulled out. It took a moment for it to dawn on her what he had but once she did figure it a sly grin spread across her face as she crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back against the pillows once more. Normally she wasn't one for mind altering substances especially given the life that she led. One never knew when they were going to be summoned and to show yourself in front of the Dark Lord completely pissed or flying higher than a snitch was a sure fire way to guarantee that you were going to be tortured beyond anything you had ever experienced before. That and Bella preferred to get her highs in other ways. The screams and begs and pleads of a man who's life was held in her hands did wonders for her. Watching their blood spill across the floor and stain it, the walls, and her hands gave her a high better than anything else she had ever felt before. Sure it was sick and twisted and most would think her psychotic for enjoying it but what sadist didn't enjoy the pain? Even if it wasn't her own and she wasn't the one experiencing it it still worked for her.

That isn't to say though that she hadn't experienced the normal methods most people used. She had a liking for Absinthe and when she had first started drinking it had ended up so far gone and hallucinating that she hadn't even known her own name. The hangover the following day had not been pleasant but she had dealt with it and slowly over time her body had built up a tolerance to the stuff and now she was able to drink more without the sudden onslaught of hallucinations and the instant feeling of being pissed. Those who choose to get high all of the time though never made much sense to her. She had done it with all of the other girls in the dorm and the only thing it had done for her was make her giggly, a bit touchy feely with all of them and gave her an incredible case of the munchies.

Which might not be such a bad thing considering she hadn't eaten all day and even though the thought of food had her turning a bit green she was still hungry. Reaching out she plucked it from his fingers and held it up, inspecting it for a moment before glancing at him once more, the grin still firmly in place on her face.

"Have you ever known me to abstain from anything, even when sick? I know of no such word and see no need to practice it. Abstinence is for fools who can't control themselves. We are not such people. Although if your parents ever find out I not only let you do such things but partake in them with you as well you had best ensure that nothing happens to me. I will be most upset if it does and I find out that you said nothing to defend me." Glancing at him she inhaled deeply, idly wondering what Rodolphus would think if he were to come in at that precise moment and see them and to be quite honest, it didn't really matter to her. Much didn't when he was around and that was the way she preferred. Sure it was odd to be so close to someone who was so much younger that herself but this was Sirius. He was the exception to most rules and would be for quite some time.

"So, fill me in on what I've missed with you. Its been a while since I last saw you."

"It's your own fault you know," he pointed out, his tone rather amiable despite the accusation. "You went off and got married and you hardly ever come to visit anymore."

It was a half-hearted complaint he didn't really mean, even if it was true. She'd never seemed so mysteriously busy before she'd gotten married. That was the trouble with marriage, in Sirius's skeptical view; it seemed to swallow people clean up. Not that Bella was really so bad about it. She still made family a priority, she just didn't seem quite as present as she used to be.

He reached over to ease the cigarette from her grasp, pulling in an easy plume of smoke. After considerable contemplation, he reckoned he liked this stuff more than the regular stuff. The guy he got it from - nice enough bloke, though very blond and kind of amusingly touchy - said it came from some kind of crossbreeding with some kind of poppy or something. The mechanics of it didn't quite interest Sirius as much as the effects. He liked things that slowed him down, that let his thoughts get languid.

He gave a noncommittal shrug as a hazy stream of smoke passed his lips. Very little actually inclined Sirius to discuss how things were with his parents, mostly because it made so little sense. They just pushed and prodded incessantly, and had taken to speaking at him as if he were completely incapable of thinking for himself. It was downright demeaning. And there wasn't anything she could do about it, so there was no point in hashing it over.

"Might go to the World Cup with a few friends at the end of the summer," he mentioned.

The whole thing had been James's idea, and it hadn't taken any time at all for him to get the Potters to agree. It was only a matter of time before they got Remus on board. He'd eventually come around, he always did, and it wasn't as if it was all quidditch all day. Surely they'd be able to cart along enough books to keep Remus entertained.

"It's as much mine as it is yours. After all your hidden away at Hogwarts and shut up with your friends. It makes it hard to actually find the time to be able to visit without interrupting anything." Bella wasn't about to tell him that the reason she was so busy wasn't because of marriage but because of her duties to her Lord and her drive and determination to prove that she had what it took to be a Death Eater and a damn good one at that and that just because she wasn't male didn't mean that she couldn't handle it like all of the others or do as they did. Most of her time was focused on that and she had a feeling that if Rodolphus were not right there next to her in the thick of things that her marriage would have been in seriously trouble as she was gone more often than she was actually at home. Being sick was the first time she had spent longer than forty eight hours at home and it was starting to show with her with as antsy and anxious as she was getting. There were things to be done, missions to be completed and new recruits to break in. Bella didn't have the time to be sick and stuck at home and yet she was just that. Sirius showing up was actually a blessing in disguise as it was a break from the monotony she had been feeling with being cooped up in the same place for days on end and not allowed to leave in case her illness got worse and turned into something that would require her to make a trip to Mungo's.

She just laughed softly and shook her head at his words. "In the three months its been since I've seen you the only thing you can come up with is might go to the World Cup with a few friends at the end of the summer? Surely you can come up with more than that. Life can't have been that dull and boring for you. And if it has, then we shall simply have to fix that while you are home. Can't have you running about bored and dull now can we? It would throw the world off balance and then I would have to weep. That is something none of us want to have happen." Reaching over she took her cigarette back from him and took another long drag, watching as the smoke curled up and disappeared into nothingness. It really was rather amusing to her to be sitting there with him while sick and in the bed she shared with Rodolphus and getting high. If her mind worked properly she would find some sort of irony in it all but as it was she just shrugged it all off. No need to put a damper on things with dark thoughts and what if's that really mattered very little in the grand scheme of things.

One hand began thumbing open the buttons of his vest while she spoke, the other occupied with bringing the cigarette to his lips once again before she reclaimed it. Peeling the garment off himself, he let it drop onto the floor.

At least she wasn't asking about which friends, which seemed to be his mother's most favored, ever-present question. The Potters, at least, were easily excused. Generally speaking, when it came to school or his friends Sirius most often either didn't bring them up or just glossed over it.

"It's school, I am somewhat obligated to be there," he countered over a contented sort of sigh.

Whether or not Rodolphus cared what they were up to, or where, was of no concern to Sirius. There wasn't anything the least bit odd about this. The two of them had been close for as long as Sirius could remember, and he was hardly about to alter his expectations and practices to placate Lestrange. Bella could have done better, in Sirius's opinion. He didn't need to possess a viable alternative to substantiate the sentiment.

"And I'll have you know I'm quite looking forward to it," he went on, meaning the World Cup. Few things got Sirius as visibly excited as quidditch. "I've got to have something to look forward to this summer- Mother says you're not coming to France this year," he abruptly recalled. "I told her either old age had claimed her hearing or she'd drunk herself into dementia."

Not that his mother had appreciated such sentiments over the dinner table, but it had been worth it. He looked at Bella expectantly, with every anticipation that she would refute his mother's words. It wouldn't be the same at all if she wasn't there. When it was just him and Regulus, Kreacher always seemed to follow to closely, too persistently. Bella had to come to help them sneak off in the hopes of actually having a decent bit of fun.

Bella watched his fingers with mild curiosity, her head tilting to the side and watching closely as his vest joined the rest of his discarded things on the floor. It shouldn't have been as fascinating to her as it was but than again given the potions that were running through her system and what she was smoking it was a wonder that she wasn't seeing the world in a multitude of new colours and sounds as well as being fascinated with the small things. But then again she had always watched everything Sirius done closely. The moment he had learned to walk and then talk she had taken to following him around and watching him but then again who wouldn't watch something like that? He possessed the same natural grace and beauty that the rest of them did that made even the most mundane of things done by him seem far greater than they actually were.

"Obligated to be there and ignoring people are two different things. Though I suppose I can over look it since it is Hogwarts and I remember all to well what it was like to be there. Its hard to interact with the outside world when your sequestered away in a whole different world away from the people of the real world and normal society. Its something I've come to see a burden more than a help to students. Keeping them that far away from society and the real world does very little in actually preparing them for said world. Your in a bubble while at Hogwarts and all it does it make the real world seem far more harsher and cruel when your finally released into it. No one is prepared for what awaits them after they leave its halls, not even those in our society." While Bella loved Hogwarts and had enjoyed every last moment she had been there once out on her own she had found that what they learned there prepared them for very little of what was in the real world. It was far more harsher and crueler than anyone could ever imagine. Even with the knowledge her father had given her while growing up of how the world worked it did very little for actually preparing her of what lay beyond the walls of the castle. And people wondered why society was so screwed up? When one took into account the rapid pace at which mudbloods were being produced and Muggles were allowed into their society and permitted to tarnish and taint their world it was a wonder that things were not worse off than they were.

Bella blinked several times as she stared at him with the most peculiar look on her face as she tried to recall when she had told her Aunt that she would not be joining them in France that summer. She couldn't recall having ever said that and figured that the woman really must be getting on in her years if she was thinking that Bella was about to break family tradition. She had gone to France every year since she was seven save for the summer right after Hogwarts but that had been excused as she and Rodolphus had just gotten married and spent the entire summer secluded away from family and society while on their honeymoon. But she had yet to miss a summer since then and she wasn't about to start now.

"Your mother has gone round the bend as I have never stated such a thing and I do not intend to. I might be a few days behind the rest of you but trust me I have every intention of spending the summer in France with everyone as we always do. Besides if I don't come who else is going to show you how to sneak into places such as the bordello's and bars? Its time you learned how to do such things after all."

Sirius's increasingly lidded eyes didn't seem to blink. His breaths were slipping toward slow and shallow. He really did love the opiated stuff better than regular leaf. It made the conversation a little harder to keep track of, but it was pleasant just to hear the lilting tone and steady cadence of her voice.

Upon hearing his mother discredited, his grin sliced properly across his lips. His cousins, after all, hardly ever arrived or departed on the exact same schedule as his immediate family. After just a moment's paused his fingertips slipped around her wrist, drawing her hand to his lips so he could take another drag. The way he dipped his head had him slouching down a bit, more into a recline that properly sitting up. He exhaled a plume of smoke against her palm before closing his lips into a chaste kiss.

"What makes you think I don't already know?" he couldn't help teasing, his head tilting a bit.

He didn't exactly have much need of a bar, though he reckoned such tricks would be useful. At present, he was pretty able to get those of age to get him what he wanted (for reasonable compensation, of course) when he wasn't at home. At home- well, suffice to say that there was enough wine in the cellar that a missing bottle or two rarely ever merited much notice. Bordellos, on the other hand- well, there weren't that many in London. Well, at least, none he'd consider exploring.

A lazy grin spread across her face as he grabbed her wrist and pulled it closer, a short of laughter coming from her as he took a drag while she still held it. Leave it to him to be able to figure out how to be able to do that with this stuff rushing through their system. Had she tried to do such a thing it would have gone horribly wrong and more than likely she would have ended up setting either the bed on fire, their clothing on fire or quite likely both. The feel of his lips against her palm though had her eyes opening a wider as she glanced down at him for a moment. Without a second thought given to it she changed the cigarette to her other hand so that the one that had been holding it was able to open completely and rest against his cheek, her thumb stroking across the smooth almost absent mindedly.

"You would have been bragging about it by now and going on and on about your conquest had you learned about that. So I am fairly certain that that is one area where I still know more than you do." Though if she got her way that summer it wouldn't be as such. Most would think it incredibly odd and more than likely creepy for her to be teaching her fourteen year old cousin about the workings of sex and what it took to please a woman but in their world it was normal. Besides if she didn't show him and explain everything to him and let him experiment in a controlled environment then either he wouldn't learn at all or he would just go about learning it all in his own way and to allow him to do such a thing could lead to disastrous consequences and she would be damned if she let that happen to him at such a young age and have it ruin whatever future he might have.

"Are you telling me that exploring such a place with me doesn't hold any sort of appeal to you at all?"

What left his chest was more a huff of a laugh that a proper chuckle. She did have something of a point. Well, not that he'd have called it 'bragging.' Sirius didn't brag, he simply informed. That it came off as highly flattering to his own person was hardly his own constructive interpretation.

He leaned his head into her touch, letting his eyes drift mostly closed. This was a much nicer way to spend the day. Really, if it weren't for Lestrange, he'd have asked her to let him stay on for a couple of days. Then again, if she was really ill, well, it was practically familial obligation to keep her company. It was an idea that merited further thought, but not his conscious attention, so her permitted the back of his mind to mull if over.

"Don't be ridiculous," he dismissed. Bella was always good for some of the best sorts of fun- the sort of fun that was permissible, so long as his parents didn't find out. There was quite a lot of that sort of fun to be had these days, actually. With a bemused sort of haughtiness he added, "I was just thinking more... quivering Venetian courtesans to French whores possessing an overabundance of body hair."

Not that he didn't love continental women, or French women, it was just that France seemed such the cliche. It was the stereotypical language of flirtation. For Sirius, what was expected was almost always inherently boring. He fancied himself the exception to any number of rules, and appreciated it when his experienced were thus reflected. Originality was almost impossible to come by, though it was something he relished in Bella - and James, actually, when he thought on it - so being atypical was at least the next best thing.

"You're thinking of the common whore houses in France, the ones that everyone who has a shiny coin and the urge to fuck visits. I was not referring to such a thing. There are bordello's where you have to have more than a shiny coin to get in. They cater to those like us, high class, well bred, well off clientele. Besides I'm not going to let you experience such a thing with some common whore. We, you, are better than that. Besides, the French invented whores. They have some of the best around so long as you know where to look and who to ask to get the high quality that people like you and myself expect given the life we live." It was lucky for him that Bella was well versed in the French culture. After all it was a second home to her why wouldn't she know all of the ins and outs especially in such a seedy crowd. The low class, every day common whore she made a target out of. Hunting in the French whore district was a past time of hers that she enjoyed greatly. One because you could get them to scream on command and two when they finally realized that you weren't playing game and that this was real that the terror was all the more intoxicating because it was pure and real and not tainted in the least. It always sent a rush through Bella when she played with them.

Playing with them that way though and allowing them to touch and sully her cousin were two totally different things. She would murder the first one who dared to so much as look at him without a second thought. Bella was more than likely going to end up burning in hell for introducing a fourteen year old to the world of sex but given everything else she had done in her life time if she wasn't already on a one way train then nothing was going to send her there.

"Have you ever thought about what you would want for it? Your first time that is?" Reaching out she pulled him closer to her, draping an arm around his shoulder so her fingers could run through his hair like they normally did when he was around. Bringing the cigarette up she took another drag from it before holding it out to him and offering him another hit while waiting for his answer, all the while thinking of what her first time had been like. It had been interesting to say the least but it wasn't something she had ever regretted, not in the least.

Few people were as skilled at so effortlessly, so naturally, stroking Sirius's ego as Bella. It wasn't entitlement, it was just the way the world worked. With her, it was privilege without the shackles his parents sought to attach to it. A hum of vague agreement resonated within him. Really, it was hardly as if he expected her to lead him into someplace beneath him- not that he didn't get a rather quaint sort of kick out of places that were technically beneath him.

Mulling over her question, he leaned closer to her, his head coming to rest of her shoulder. A pleased little sound hummed out of him as her fingers carded through his hair, stroking with gentle tension from root to tip. The arrangement was familiar, even if his feet now stretched beyond her own. His casually sophisticated posture had melted into an elegant sprawl across her bed. When he felt her body shifting, he knew what she was doing; though it was unnecessary, he opened his eyes to close his lips around the end of the cigarette. Though the smoke itself was warm it filled him with a cool, lapping tranquility.

"Someone young," he replied. His voice was slipping toward a more dreamy quality. Soft, but almost hoarse. He figured a professional, even a young one, would be perfectly well educated but might possess a level of... well, not innocence, exactly. But someone in the ballpark of his own age seemed preferable. He didn't much care for the impression at being at someone else's mercy, and surely, with someone older, he would be.

"Pale," he added, which was easy enough, as was what followed, "Dark hair. Slender." What could Sirius possibly enjoy more than a reflection of himself? To see his own features and traits mirrored against him? "None of that... bubbly, fawning nonsense, fake innocence. Someone who knows what she's about." He let his thoughts swirl nearly incoherently, a stream of consciousness that went unchecked and unexamined. The words that came next fell thoughtlessly, absently, from his lips, "Delicate, but not fragile. Not... breakable."

This really was rather comfortable sitting there like that with him doing what came naturally and comfortably to them. She couldn't even begin to recall the number or times they had sat like this. It didn't matter if they were talking or not even the silence with them was comfortable. Bella never ceased to be amazed at how comfortable she was with him, even more so than her own sisters. There were times that she forgot he was just a cousin and not a sibling and that if her grandfather had not married her aunt to a cousin that Sirius wouldn't exist, that she wouldn't have this comfortable existance or a companion to share everything with. Sure she had Rodolphus and there was no doubt that she loved him with everything she was, but with Sirius it was different. It was easier and effortless and flawless and she never had to think about what she was doing when with him. It all just came to her and to hem naturally. There were days when with Rodolphus that it was an extreme challenge and all she was able to do was think about the next move and what it was going to do to them. But that was part of the reason why she loved him so much. Where as with Sirius she didn't have to think and it was easy with Rodolphus he always kept her on her toes and always kept her thinking and guessing. She was lucky to have the best of both worlds and she knew it. It wasn't something she ever planned to give up, ever. Not if she could help such a thing.

A low rumble of laughter came from her as he described what he wanted. Leave it to the Black family to always want someone who resembled them. It had been the same with Bella when she had pictured her first time. One like her only in the body of a male. She had her tastes and she wasn't about to change them for anyone.

"They don't come much younger than yourself love. The high class bordello's don't allow it. They really don't like to go much younger than sixteen to be honest but they make exceptions for certain cases. You might have to deal with someone slightly older, but don't worry, at the bordello's there is something for everyone, you just have to be patient enough to look for it and find it." It wasn't until she stopped speaking that it dawned on her who his description fit and for a moment it struck her as a bit odd and perhaps just a bit much but she brushed the thought off and blamed it on whatever was floating around in her system. Though it didn't stop the thought from tumbling out of her mouth.

"You know, if I were younger, I would fit your description perfectly. Its a bit odd if you think about it but at the same time not I suppose. Besides its not like it would be that far fetched in our family anyhow. I mean your parents are cousins after all. And I can honestly say that if I were younger it wouldn't bother me to do such a thing for you." This was the problem with Bella when she was high, aside from everything else that happened to her when she was in such a state the filter that was normally in place that prevented most thoughts from leaving her brain was gone and whatever came to mind came tumbling out. Some would find it amusing but in instances like with what she had just said, someone would take offense at it. Luckily none of those people were around to do such a thing.

A lazy lift of his brow was as close as he got to rolling his eyes. Of course he hadn't meant younger than himself, just younger on the broad spectrum of possibilities. Closer to fourteen than thirty-four, for instance. She didn't seem to require the clarification, however, so he didn't press it.

It was hardly an unthinkable topic of conversation. Well, not in present company. The contrast of his family to the outside world had been thrown into stark relief over the past few years, surely much more than it ever would have been in Slytherin. With his senses pleasantly bleary, however, such thoughts were rather distant. It made it easy to slip back into a sense of normalcy. What was between them, after all, was perfectly innocent. Of course they were close; they were family. What she did for him, what she was willing to do for him, was simply a function of her love for him.

And of course she fit his ideal of beauty - there were no creatures alive more beautiful than the likes of themselves. There wasn't anything wrong with aesthetic appreciation. He nuzzled closer to her, draping an arm across her waist. His head settled more atop her chest, still allowing her to easily slip her fingers through his hair.

"Oh, yes," he smirked, highly amused. He lifted the wrist to his arm that had so recently stretched across her, expecting her to understand the he wished her to release the hastily tied ribbon of his cuff. "Your husband would just love that."

The notion of courting Rodolphus's jealousy was rather entertaining. He really was terribly uptight from Sirius's viewpoint.

Her body stilled when he began shifting about and once he was comfortably once more her hand began carding through his hair once more as the other flicked the cigarette off into nothing. It was almost gone as it was and they were both pleasantly numb as it was that they didn't need any more. That wasn't to say that she wouldn't say no if it was presented to her once more but at that moment they were fine. As soon as the cigarette left her hand it draped across the arm he hand thrown across her waist, her fingers tracing lazy patterns on the fabric of his shirt as her thoughts drifted for a bit.

It wasn't all that far fetched of an idea, what had come tumbling out of her mouth. Granted had she been sober chances of her even suggesting such a thing were slim to none but that wasn't to say that the thought hadn't been present for a while. After all it was her own father who had offered to introduce her to the world of carnal pleasures but she had refused insisting that she was going to wait until marriage, even though that had been a lie and that summer in France she had lost it to a threesome with two men who's names she couldn't even recall any longer, but that wasn't point. In their family things like that weren't taboo like they were in others. It was common practice for them and not at all out of the norm. To be honest she was surprised the subject hadn't com up between the two of them before now.

"You assume he would have any say so in the matter, let alone even know about it. Do you believe that I need his permission or that I need to let him know before hand what I am doing? I am my own person, I need permission from no one and if it were what I wanted to do no one, not even Rodolphus, would have the ability to stop me." While yes they were married that in no way meant that Rodolphus controlled her. She came and went as she pleased and when she wanted to do something she did it. Nothing said or stated that permission was needed or that he had to be included. The fact that she did include him only went to prove that it was what she wanted. This was something that he would never hear. It was family and personal and while married to her, he was not a Black and therefore not privy to such things.

Oh, he hardly knew what he assumed. Not that it mattered. At the moment, barely anything mattered.

It wasn't much of a surprise, not really. Bella had never been the sort he expected to turn into a vapid, fawning bride. The mere thought, the sort of image it inspired was laughable enough to pull a rumbling little chuckle out of him. Were he so inclined, he might have found the charity to pity Rodolphus just a bit. But the man could barely even take care of his wife when she was ill without irritating her, so he hardly seemed to merit such generosity.

His mind getting whisked off with that particular train of thought: "Now, don't you feel much better?"

The question was quiet as Sirius found himself getting lulled into a cozy complacency. He found he really didn't care to go home. Surely his parents wouldn't object to him staying over for the night. They were always going on about how lovely Bella was, what a fine sort of influence and all that. Besides, he doubted his parents would be terribly opposed to a bit of a break. If it weren't for school, he was really starting to wonder how Number Twelve would remain standing.

She wondered what sort of thought it was that had crossed his mind that pulled a chuckle from him but at that moment she was far too comfortable and to be quite honest too damn lazy to really care to ask. Bella was fairly certain that if it was anything worth sharing he would elaborate more but until that point in time she wouldn't worry herself with such things. Instead she focused on the feel of his hair on her fingers and the combined sound of their breathing filling the room. It seemed much louder to her than normal but she just shrugged it off. Now really wasn't the time as to wonder about the why's or the how's of their breathing so much louder, not when she was so comfortable, the first time actually she had been such a thing since getting sick.

"Mm, perhaps." It was the only answer she could give him as a pleased smile appeared on her face and her eyes slid closed part way, sending the world into a semi dark state. There were other things on her mind begging to be let out and voiced aloud but she just ignored them all in favour of the comfortable floating she was feeling. She made a note to ask him later where he had gotten his stash as it was damn good but chances were she wouldn't remember and if she did even better.

"I trust your not going anywhere anytime soon?" The question came out in a quiet murmur but with it being just the two of them in the room anything louder seemed like a waste of time and energy. She really didn't want him to leave. It had been far too long since she had last seen him and to have him leave as suddenly as he had come would have been a bit disappointing but if that was what he chose to do then there really was very little she could say or do to stop him.

It wasn't really an absence of energy as much as it was the sense that the typical energy that thrummed through him had relaxed into a very pleasant sort of hum. His world condensed down to the soft, cool sheets, the warmth of her, the soothing rhythm of fond tension through his hair, and the faint rise and fall of her breathing. His own breath barely seemed to come and go at all. The pause between the releasing of one breath and the drawing of a new one felt longer and longer, like transcendental clarity.

He felt, more than he consciously heard, her affirmation, teasing though it seemed. When she mentioned leaving, though it took a few moments for her words to register properly in his mind, the notion of leaving seemed absurd.

"Don't be ridiculous," he returned. "You're clearly much too ill for me to return home in good conscience."

That hardly seemed the case, but it was precisely what he intended to tell his parents, and it was exactly the sort of filial justification they'd swallow without a second thought - and he reckoned she knew it. It wasn't as if Sirius didn't know the right things to say. However, it was significantly easier to get his mouth to cooperate when he was a bit less than sober. It could wait though, sending a note home, until later. He could conceive of precious few things that would motivate him to abdicate his present state.

"I'll clearly have to stay on till tomorrow, at least," he added. Really, it was just a polite sort of way of inviting himself to stay over. Once she agreed there was no doubt in his mind that Rodolphus would find a way to send him home.

That was good enough for her as she settled further down into her bed, summoning the blanket that lay across the foot of it and draped it around him. While she might have been hot and had to have the window open letting the breeze in the last thing she needed to have happen was him get the flu from such a thing. It was one thing for her to have it because she already had the flu but something told her if she sent her cousin home sicker than when he had come to visit her that her Aunt would not have been pleased, not in the least. And the last thing she needed at that moment was to have her home bombarded with owls and eventually howlers when she didn't answer the owls sent her way.

"True. If you leave now I might shrivel up into nothing and we can't have that. It would deprive the world of my wonderful presence and think of all the people who would weep from such a thing happening." Really her words were completely and utterly sarcastic but it didn't matter. He would get the point and if not then she would just convince him to stay later on after they woke up for sleeping seemed like a really good idea at that moment and it had been a while since she had really slept so what harm would it do if they both took a nap together? It seemed to her as though he was well on his way to doing just that and she couldn't be arsed to tell him no or not to do such a thing.

"Perhaps even the following day. We'll just have to wait and see how I feel to determine when exactly you can be allowed to go home."

There were words in his mind that mimicked her tone- affirmations on how, really, his staying would be akin to some kind of public service. They were pleasant fictions, charming little embellishments laid over otherwise rather banal conversations.

Instead of coherently formed words, Sirius only yielded a soft tone of agreement. He was mostly sure of what she was saying, it was just tricky getting himself to concentrate. Actually, it was kind of like trying to focus his eyes without realizing that they'd slipped closed. Which they had. In an unconscious sort of way, he curled himself a bit closer, aware that she was talking about how long he'd be staying. They could sort it out later.

Another little sound left him, though it bled out into something of a sigh. His murky thoughts were dimming, any hint of tension within his body unraveling so quickly he could feel it slipping away. And then he was lost to placid fog of dreamless sleep that shifted to the soft rhythm of her heartbeat.

It wasn't long after he fell asleep that she realized he was doing such a thing and as she glanced down at him a smile tugged at her lips as she continued to run her fingers through his hair, her thoughts drifting lazily as she listened to the soft sounds in the room. She would never admit to Rodolphus that she was far more comfortable at this precise moment with him there with her like he was then she had been the entire time she had been. It would only serve to irritate him and they would fight even more than they already were. That and she feared the possibility of hurting his feelings by telling him that it took her cousin and not her husband to get to relax and be comfortable while sick. It really wasn't the sort of thing you told the man you loved.

Slipping lower in the bed she pulled the covers up further as she had no idea where her wand was at that moment and couldn't really be arsed to care as her eyes slipped closed and she joined him in sleep, her cheek resting against the top of his head and her fingers stilled, still buried in his hair.
