Deena was starting to get tired and frustrated of the whole hunt, considering the fact that it was going nowhere and it didn’t help that Bela was always staying a step or two ahead of them. And when her little sister made the idea of splitting up, Deena – at this point – was willing to try anything. After a yelling conversation with Dean over the phone that made them sound like an old, married couple, Deena glanced at one sister through the corner of her eye and the other in the rearview mirror. “We’re meetin’ up with the boys in West Virginia, and split into teams there.”
With her way of driving, and the added fact that she was a female/hunter driver, Deena had turned what would be a typical eleven hour drive from the two states and shaved off a couple hours. As they entered White Sulphur Springs, Deena pulled the Nissan Xterra into the parking lot of a diner called Bev’s. And with a red, Twizzler hanging out of her mouth, “Looks like Dean is a prissy driver. Let’s wait inside for them and get something to eat.”
Before exiting the jeep completely, Deena had tucked a couple of firearms away into the holster beneath her jacket and another at her back in her jeans. Deena needed at least three guns to prevent her from feeling naked and vulnerable.
Turning to Allie, she tossed her to the car keys. “Tag your it.”
