Date: 19 September, 1997; Between classes and dinner
Location: Music room

Summary: Anthony wants to take some time for himself and he might as well get some practice in too.
Having requested the faculty schedule from Professor Flitwick, retrieved the book he needed for his Care of Magical Creatures essay, and double checked that he wasn't on prefect duty that evening Anthony found himself with a rare bit of free time. He hadn't had much of it since the start of the term. He had been about to head back to the Ravenclaw common room, but a changed his mind. He wanted some time to relax without interruption.
So it was that Anthony headed toward a seldom used classroom that contained a piano. This was something else he hadn't found time to do in awhile. After checking a few chords to make sure that the tuning charm still held and searched through the sheets of music abandoned in the piano bench until he found a piece he knew - Arbuckle McGooken's Dance of the Kelpie. Soon, the room was filled with bright, quick notes.
Anthony wasn't a great performer. He was very technically good, hitting the notes in the right order in the right rhythm, but lacked the charisma and virtuosity that separated the proficient from the truly talented. It wasn't why he played though. His mother had hoped to foster the same creative spirit in her son when she insisted he learn. That hadn't happened. Anthony kept playing because it was a good way for him to relax. Playing kept the part of his mind that insisted on being productive occupied on something low stress.
He was almost half way through the piece when he lost his fingering and it fell apart. With a sigh, he backed up and started repeating the phrase.
