Who: Meru, Bella and Malia
Where: Leather and Lace, Jannati
When: Week 3. Monday. Afternoon.
Rating: High PG-13
Status: Closed, completed

Even though Malia had said she didn't need anything and that she was just fine with what she had before, somehow the topic had come up over dinner the night before. The three of them had been talking about the process being made on the roof and then about maybe getting a clothing line which turned not clothes and blankets and before she really knew what was going on, there was this plan to go out Monday and pick up a couple of small things as a group.

Which turned into more than a couple of small things because first there was the hardware store for the clothing line and a few things for the future garden, the patio and a lattice wall. And, of course the string lights.

They'd passed by a collectibles store and left with stuff to read in the form of comics and build thanks to Meru's secret Lego addiction, not that it was one any more. She may have wandered a way at one point only to be found half finished a volume of something called The Sandman. She'd put it back though and headed off to help with the bags.

And they just seemed to keep growing as they grabbed some pizza for lunch and ended up in a linen store buying blankets and sheets and towels and then a clothing store and it was really getting too much. Plus it didn't help that despite her constant stating that she didn't need anything, it seemed like every time she looked at something she liked and put back it still somehow turned up in this bag or that.

Naturally neither Bella or Meru seemed to have any idea how whatever it was got there mixed in with the things they were buying for themselves and by the time they got to this last store she was undecided if she was happy or annoyed at them for being sneaky like that.

"Seriously, no more. Can we even afford all of this stuff?" She asked with a little bit of a concerned frown as she looked back at the car full of stuff they'd left parked across the street, as if it wasn't all coming out of Meru's pocket book though that was another thing that kind of nattered at the back of her mind.

So apparently when one gets a slave like Malia, then that means that they have to not only buy her everything that she needs, but be as stealthy as possible. Bella was easy. She wanted something, they got it. But if Malia wanted something, then she would huff and pout, put it back and then huff again when Michael put it in the cart, bag, or whatever they were carrying this time around.

At least they'd managed to get some of the stuff he wnated to, his weekly comics, some new legos to hide in the closet until he needed to calm down, and some new clothes to replace the ones that were too holey at this point.

"Of course I can. Otherwise I wouldnt have bought it." Michael offered, hoping to mollify the coyote girl with his answer. "I do own a business and work at the university. It's not like I'm strapped for cash."

There was one more thing that he needed to get them though, and he was kind of dreading it. While he had no problem normally of letting the two of them do what they wanted, he was tempting fate by not keeping a collar on them. He also wanted to see something on Bella to remind his brother that she did not and would never belong to him. If that meant going into that store, then he would.

"There's one more place we need to go." Meru said as he glanced over to them. "You two still good to go?"

Bella knew Malia well enough that she knew the signs to look for when the werecoyote saw something she liked and she was quick to show and teach Michael what to look for as well. Bella was a little less reserve about asking for things but she also looked at prices and after two weeks of manning the shop Bella had a rough idea of where the wereraven stood with his money. Or at least she thought she did. She also knew Michael would say no if he didn't agree to the purchase.

"Where else do we have to go?" Bella asked with her arm wrapped around Malia's to keep the werecoyote close and also to tug her along. "We have gotten a lot of stuff today, Meru. Do we really need more?" Bella wasn't trying to disagree with Michael but she also didn't want him to spend all his money on them either. She was just a slave after all and Malia was her friend.

She really didn't like leaving the car alone like that. Sure it was highly unlikely that anyone was going to do anything to it but there was always that off chance and the sun was starting to get low.

Malia turned her head to look back to her friends, still not exactly thrilled with walking away for everything but they seemed sure at least that the street was fine. Maybe she was just being sensitive about the gang of kids down the road hanging around the street light?

"I'd be better if we were done." Malia commented as she let the smaller girl push her along while she tried not to drag her feet too much for as eager as she was to get moving, "I really don't like this street." She punctuated her sentence with a look down the road where the five or six guys maybe a year or two younger than her and Bella were loitered. "This is one of those fast things, right?"

"There's one place that I've been meaning to go for awhile, I just havent had the time." Or the desire to be honest. Misha was proving that it was necessary though. His girls needed to have his mark on them to remind his brother that he needed to back off.

"It wont take too long, I promise." He tried to appease them. "Trust me. I dont much enjoy going into the shop anyways." He admitted after a minute. Leather and lace just wasnt his usual place. He didnt have sex enough to really have any sort of big kinks and while some of the stuff seemed fascinating, Michael couldnt help but feel awkward there.

Walking about half a block from the car, he motioned to the shop, opening the door for both of them. "After you ladies?"

"Malia you're worrying over nothing," Bella said with a sigh because with the chance of becoming a slave as one of the punishments, crime was low around the world. Bella very much doubted that group of kids down the street would even look at the car.

Bella raised an eyebrow at the name of the store they were about to enter and she saw some rather racy Halloween costumes in the window. Oh she had no doubt what the store would hold inside which caused her to hang onto Malia harder. Not because she was scared or nervous but because she didn't want Malia to run. "Thank you, Meru," Bella said as she and Malia walked into the store together. "Please don't make a scene, Malia. Meru said we wouldn't be here for long."

"Werekids don't give a damn ab--" Malia started set the record straight about her justifiable concerns when Bella ushered her through the store and told her to be calm. One of the ridiculous outfits in the store window had already caught her attention and she took it in as they walked, the bare backside of the mannequin caused her to give it a skeptical look as she stated in a rather deadpan fashion, "Oh now that's ridiculous. No one actually wears that outside."

Her expression of disbelief didn't improve as they entered and she got an eyeful of the rest of the store, "I'm not seeing a reason to be here, Bella." Already the coyote girl was starting to squirm in the other's hold as part of her wanted to snoop and the other larger part made rather large protests as to why they should leave right that second. Especially once she noted some of the more advanced equipment samples in the back of the store.

Why the hell would someone need a personal St.Andrew's cross? And why were there spikes all over that paddle shaped thing?

Malia wasnt the only one who felt awkward about this place. Meru was not a person who tended to adventure much with his sexuality. It wasnt to say he was a virgin, but the most that he'd ever done in the world of kinky involved a blindfold and one of his feathers. All of these whips, paddles and toys just reminded him of the intense stuff that people liked.

It also reminded him just how long it'd been since he'd last been with someone too.

"I promise it wont be long... this is the only place that has them though." He mumbled a little, his hand rubbing up and down his neck faster than normal, trying to stop feeling so awkward.

Knowing where the glass case was, he motioned towards it. "It's time you girls had something to show that you're mine. After the last instant with Misha, I kind of feel like it needs to be done. I'm sorry."

Bella was more curious about the shop and the items within it then awkward about it. She had never tried anything in the shop before but she had read about it. She read a lot and did a lot of researching in her free time. She did notice that Michael wasn't all that comfortable in the shop so Bella knew if they could get the item else where they probably would have.

"It is part of the law," Bella commented as they moved towards the glass case that held quite a variety of different collars. She knew it had to happen, that she had to have Michael's mark on her body somewhere, as she was his slave. "A slave must either be collared, tattooed or branded with their Master's mark. It's ok, Meru. I understand."

The look that Malia gave her long time friend and comrade in arms was one that said Bella had either started speaking in tongues and pure madness. And she would know as she'd had ample opportunity to witness both after her first shift.

"Well, I don't. That's just..no." She answered back with her usual blunt and stubborn manner. Though as they neared the display of collars, the female were visibly tensed as she dug her heels in and refused to move any closer to the case. The mere hint of restraints were a far from popular subject with Malia; really anything that infringed on her personal freedom or that of the ones she cared about were universally sources of hostility from the were coyote and the air around her practically pricked with it. "Bella.." She said slowly, a low warning growl rumbled in the back of her throat that ring with contension and annoyance.

Michael was grateful that Bella understood. While he didnt want them to feel like they were lesser somehow, he wanted people to know that they were his girls and no matter what Misha tried, they wouldnt leave him.

He heard Malia's growl and it took an effort not to back down. He knew it would be harder for the other girl than it would be for bella. Weres didnt do well without freedom. "It's only for public. You dont have to wear it while inside the lab or the upper part of the house.... and you two can even pick what you want." He had his seal that could be placed on any of the collars there easily.

Bella knew as soon as she figured out that they were there to get collars that Malia would put up a fight. But the thing was that Malia didn't actually have to get a collar because she wasn't a slaves. But Bella. Didn't know if Michael would allow Malia to stay with them if he knew that he was letting Malia live with them for free. Bella didn't want to loose her best friend.

"Malia," Bella turned to the were, still holding her hand and giving it a squeeze, "it is something that needs to happen if we want to continue to stay with Meru. He isn't forcing either of us to wear them except out in public so you could hide yours somewhere and never see it again." But then Malia wouldn't be allowed out in public but Bella was pretty sure Malia would get around that. "i know you don't like the idea but it is the law and I don't want to leave Meru, do you?"

Malia continued to shake her head in disagreement the entire time Meru spoke and through most of what Bella said. Unfortunately, she had already spend enough time with her friend to read between the lines with her. The lilt in her voice and the sad look in the back of her eyes were about not losing each other more than anything else.

"This is total bullshit!" She stated angrily as she continued to growl and wear her anger visibly on her face as she pointed towards the collar case, "I could pick up that whole thing and use it as a baseball bat without any strain and I'm the one that has to put on a collar because someone else might be too stupid to mess with me?! Why am I being punished because the asshole is also a moron!?"

Malia really hoped that somewhere Misha was choking on whatever was at hand, be it air or his own spit, as he fell another notch on the popularity ladder with her. The damn jerk didn't even have to be there and he was still doing a wonderful job of ruining her day. Though this time he had some serious help with it from Michael whom was not going to enjoy the rest of his night if she had to wear the stupid thing ever, even once.

Michael fought the urge to smile at Malia's annoyance at his brother. It was kind of nice not to be the one blamed, even if it secretly made him feel good to think of them with his mark on them.

"Thank you both for being understanding." He gave an honest smile at them. "And you can pick whatever style you want." He hoped that maybe it would appease Malia. "Think of it as a fashion choice?" Because women liked fashion, yeah? Let's be honest, Meru had no idea if that was true, but everything on tv suggested it and he was desperate to do anything in hopes of calming the two women down.

"Malia," Bella's tone was both soothing but telling her best friend to take it down a couple of notches because she had no reason to make a scene, "there other supernaturals on this island. Supernaturals that are older and stronger then you are. The Alphas of the packs, vampires, full blooded fae, magic users. They all could harm you if you opened your mouth and said the wrong thing to them. This way they wouldn't be able to harm you and they would have to go to Meru first." It was another reason that Bella wouldn't mind Malia in a collar. It would keep her close and give her protection that she normally wouldn't get on her own.

Bella let out a soft sigh and rubbed Malia's arm slightly to try and sooth the coyote. "Meru has just told us we can pick the collars that we want. Think of it as a necklace, a gift from him." Bella turned her head and gave Meru a smile because she knew she had to wear one and she was beyond grateful that he was allowing her to pick it out. She definitely got a great Master.

If anything, their well meaning comments only made her agitation grow as well as the depth of the low rumble coming from the core of her being as her inner animal paced and protested at every aspect of this argument. She wasn't afraid of anything Bella had just listed and frankly, if someone wanted a go at her then she wanted as few people between her and them as possible.

"I can use the display case as a bat." She repeated with emphases. Maybe this time they would notice how damn heavy the case in question was and how bolted to the floor, "I'm not scared and you shouldn't be either. Besides, everyone keeps telling me how important it is to follow these stupid rules and laws that are put out for everyone and yet, the way you're talking makes it sound like those same rules don't actually apply to everyone."

Malia's arms crossed as her scowl of anger turned into one of cold fury. "It's not a necklace. It's not piece of jewelery or accessory. It's a fucking collar. You can lie about it all you want to yourselves, but it's a still a collar like you'd put on a dog and it's just plain wrong! I didn't do anything wrong but I'm the one that has to wear one? Bullshit. Someone might not like what I have to say but a god damn collar is suppose to stop them from going after me for saying it? More bullshit. And you're damn well lying to yourself if you think for a minute that it will."

Michael wanted to facepalm the moment that Bella started say it was to protect Malia. That was not something that most weres would take well. It was like a challenge to their abilities to protect themselves and those around them. He'd known a couple of weres (some of his younger siblings to be exact) that would run out just to prove that wasnt the case.

"I know you could. You're probably stronger than I am when you use your gifts." As a bird, his gifts lay with agility and becoming lighter rather than stronger. "I think what Bella means is that I'm more skilled when it comes to social situations." At least diplomatically that was true.

"And you're right. It is a collar, but you are not a dog. You are still a person and I am not going to be treating you any differently ever. This I give my word." He wondered vaguely if he tried to talk to Malia about his reasons due to his brother's constant encroachment onto what was his, she'd understand a bit better... but she also just might get more angry because of how stupid the reasoning seemed.

"I know you can protect yourself, Malia, I know that better then anyone else. But I also know how you run your mouth and get yourself in trouble," Bella commented becoming a little frustrated with Malia. To her Malia was making a big deal out of something that wasn't a big deal. "And yes, no matter what you think, the collar would protect you from other Masters and slaves because it is law. You know I worry about you when you are out on your own. You know that you aren't the best when it comes to social situations. But you having a collar is something that needs to happen so either you behave and pick out a collar or go to the car and I will pick you out a collar. I asked you not to make a scene and that is exactly what you are doing." Bella knew she was being impatient with Malia but this wasn't the first time the girl had made a scene when she didn't like something. Bella definitely remembered when her name as been pulled from the lottery.

If it was any other person in the world talking to Malia like that right now, she'd snap at them.

She growled angrily at her friend instead as she knew she was being talked down to like a small child but that Bella was giving her an out at the same time which just made it more annoying.

Malia shot Meru a quick glare. For such a smart guy, he said some very stupid things. "You say that. And you might even think you mean it but even if you do stay the same, everyone else will stop treating me like a person and start treating me like a house pet. They already do when we're in the store. Bella's just too fucking nice to say boo about it. If you haven't noticed that's what people do by now, then all I can say is that your willfully blind to it."

"You do what ever you want to but there's no point in wasting the money because I'm not now, nor am I ever going to let another damn collar ever touch my neck again." Malia then growled out as she pulled her hand free of Bella's and went straight for the door, her eyes flashing the angry blue of an oncoming storm as she did so.

Michael sighed as he watched Malia storm out of the store. Honestly, he couldnt quite blame her. The thought of wearing a collar would just drive him insane. They were still just as much animal as they were human and those halves of themselves wanted to run free and wild.

But there were also rules... rules that he'd been ignoring so far with the two. Maybe with Malia, he could ignore it a bit longer. It wasnt as if Misha was going after her at all anyways. Bella though was another story.

Turning to the other woman, Meru rubbed the back of his neck. "We... we can wait a bit for Malia, let her calm and get used to things a little longer. But if you wont be angry, I'd like to still get you your collar Bella."

Bella sighed softly and rubbed at her forehead because when Malia got like this she could give the human such a headache. But she loved Malia and really was only thinking about her safety. She just wished the werecoyote understood that.

She gave Meru a tired smile. "I'm sorry about Malia. I thought maybe she would listen to reason..." Clearly that hadn't worked. Bella let out a soft sigh and nodded. "I understand why you want to do this." It was about Misha and not the law and Bella understood that. "I still think we should get Malia a collar because I doubt she will ever step in this store again after this."

Michael watched Malia leave and felt bad. He really didnt want to upset her, but the rules were there for a reason. Maybe this whole thing was a bad idea.

Hearing Bella, Michael turned to her and shook his head. "No, it's alright. I knew she would have a worse problem with it than you would." Bella was just so nice and tried so hard to do things right. "Thank you for understanding though. It means a lot to me." At her suggestion, Michael nodded and motioned to the different collars. "Why dont you pick it out. You're better at knowing what she'd like."
