The shifter flopped down onto the couch next to his friend, completely invading his personal space like being close to someone was exactly the answer for tense moments. "I know," he said quietly, "I heard. It was all the talk for a while, and no one was letting me get close enough to make sure you were at least functioning." He didn't expect Alcuin to be anything approaching okay. He knew if something like that had happened to him he'd shift into something and not come out of it for a good long while.
"I'm sorry I couldn't make it before now." He smoothed his fingers through Alcuin's hair, half tempted to start braiding it.
